im a newby to this forum,please forgive me or redirect me if im in the wrong place to post my question,i have just come into the possesion of a 1988 landcruiser fj62 gx with a 3f motor and a stuffed gearbox,my question is can i mungrel fit a h55f gearbox off a 2h motor out of a hj75 troopie onto my 3f and what may be involved if possible.

should be the same gearbox. might be some differences in the driveshaft flanges, you can swap those over without drama though. Input shaft and bellhousing are the same for F and 2H motors.

60's 5spd's all interchange from diesel to petrol and back and the same box's were used in early 75's.Diesel and petrol bellhousings don't interchange but the g/box to b/housing bolt pattern and input shafts are the same in all 6cyl L/C's
A HJ 75 is the same as an FJ 60 the only difference in the box's you speak of is the FJ 62 unit may have a vacuum operated transfercase.
