what the stupid panel beater did!!

Post by vicelore »

hey guys

well about a hour ago i picked up my sierra from the panel beaters ( after my roll ) he has straightened her out ok.

i asked him if i could touch up the scratches with something to stop it from rusting. so he grabs a tin of the wrong color red and starts paingint virtualy the whole side of my car!!! after this i left quite pissed off that he had treated her like a trash can.

so i got home started rubbing her with a dry cloth nothing it was gettin quite hard, only thing i could find was turps so i gave the whole side of the car including the good duco a good hard rubbing. got most the shit paint off the good paint and left the rubbish paint in the cracks as i wanted.

my question is will the turps affect the good paint. will i wake up with half the car comming off tomorow morning ?

any hints ? i did wipe it down with some water after the rubbing to try to remove any left over turps.

Cheeers guys.

If it's 2 pack thinners will be fine but if it's acrylic then you probably would have all ready seen side afects like the paint coming off on your rag.

What year model is you sierra? I've got a funny feeling there painted in acrylic.

Either way the panelbeater would have either used base coat or 2 pack without hardener so I would recomend you use wax & grease remover to remove the paint he brushed on. This will remove the paint he put on but wont damage the orginal paint work no matter how long you leave it to soak. ;)

Cheers Mick.

I think it should be fine. What paint that was going to come off, would have come off on your rag. Thinners evaporates pretty quick and is not likely to soak in. I dont think your paint will be sitting on the floor of you garage tomorrow morning! I guess we'll hear tomorrow!
