WE Rock Round 1 - Rover Park - 21/22 April 2007

Saw some of the most amazing driving I have ever seen.....
Highlight for me was watching Adrian driving the bonus line on B1. If anybody remembers, this was the line that Pip broke a rear crown wheel and front tailshaft attempting last year.
Other great drive was Sean Langly on the shootout course driving on the edge of rolling over for about 5 minutes to take a come from behind win over Dave Camp.
Incredibly, Dave Camp had the lowest over all scores on the A courses....about 3 points better than Pete Antunac. Pro Mod and Unlimited drove identical courses all weekend.
yea....and Sean Langly driving on one front tyre for about 10 metres only to do a forward endo onto the opposing bank of the gully......sat there for a second and then a bit more throttle to land back in the gully on all 4 wheels.
Yuri's new buggy is the fawkin most coolest buggy I have ever seen. Bloody tragic that he only ran one course before the auto park brake mechanism fell off inside the auto and locked it all up.
Rod Dirt'e was running second all weekend untill a brain fade in the shootout when he took out an OPW banner and let Adrian into 2nd.
Hope sombody has got pics....

Yep, aggree, some good drives on saturday, judging course A1 with Danny, was lots of fun, good to be close to the action.
My drive of the day was Ben & Dan in the new pro mod hilux buggy, Ben was the only person who drove the first gate across the rock face without reversing through it or rolling. For first time out i was impressed. Then coming back up on his side and just driving out of it like he does it every day was cool!
One thing i did notice with every compeitor that rolled and some that didn't, was the amount of fluid loss. This was nothing short of shit house! What ever happenned to having catch cans on everything? We went though 2 spill kits in one day. Massive pain in the ass for us and not very fair on the competitors following. Clean up your act guys.
Agree on Yuri's new buggy, what a wild machine!
Also impressive was Wes's fancy dance steps trying not to get run over by the rock god himself when his auto was deciding to get drive when ever it felt like it. Pretty sure Ray from the 4x4 show got footage of it and it has already been sent to channel 7 for next season of "dancing with the stars".
Would have been nice to see some more spectators there, cause the comeptiors certainly put on a good show and the obstacles just keep getting bigger and bigger!
Talking with the competitors though and we all agree that bringing the sport to the spectaors, rather than trying to get them out of town, with stuff similar to the 4wd show at the RNA earlier this month is the way to go.
Now make with the pics!

Again another good weekend at rover park,Great weekend with good company...
Thanks to Hans & Heidi for there outstanding hospitality..
As roctoy said in his post, the fluid loss was an issue. This coming from me as i was one of many that had fluid loss.
For some reason my auto lost alot of fluid when i rolled, for some reason it came pouring out the dipstick tube,( this was a first as i have a catch can on my auto and this usually keeps it intact, but not this time,Something that will be looked into before the next round.)
I also lost my cooling system when i rolled on A1 on sat,the impact from the landing popped my radiator cap off, again this was first and i will looking into a way of a more secure setup.
There were alot of some awesome drives over the weekend,Probably the best drive that i saw was sean's front wheel endo across the full width of the creek and flopping onto his roof on the otherside bank and then falling back onto his wheels and kept going... sean & sam..
I would like to thank greg & dave for there help on sat night,Guys you ROCK
Huge to all the marshalls and officials for working hard all weekend.
Congrats to all the winners especially pete & sean, you guys drove well all weekend.
Ben & Dan
You guys are a great team to watch wheel and nop doubt with some more seat time you will give sean & dave some new competition..
Now onto the other issues i have,NO DOUBT i will get flammed for this but oh well..
I was rather disapointed with the decision to only run 3 courses each day instead of the usual 4 and then the shootout,We were all finished very early each day so i don't know why this was set out this way.
The courses were very good, very tight in some places and very technical which was awesome.
I noticed some buggies there did not comply to rules at all.
Rule 6.25
And again the spectators were very minimal,When i came through tenterfield on friday i stopped for fuel and food and the locals didn't even know that the event was on. How is the sport every to grow when the number of spectators seams to be low at the events..
Now surely someone must have some pics they can post up...

Was an awsum weekend. Good courses very technical .
The atmosphere seemed to be back to the good old days where everyone was there just for the fun.
Some cool looking new buggies and teams.
I think nearly every team had an outstanding drive on at least one of the courses.
Breakages were very minimal which meant all the courses flowed fairly well and were finished in good time.
Thanks to the organisers for putting it on.
Our favourite drive was definatley the Shootout course and was good to Have a very tight run with Dave all weekend.

what's rule 6.25?
(must be from last years rules?) obviously something to do with the body or hood.
since jamie appears to be the only unlimited with a bonnet!

I once went to this little cafe in an industrial area. The guy that ran it was a really nice bloke. Worked very hard to build his small buisness and to look after the people that supported what he was doing.Fourwheelin wrote: Now onto the other issues i have,NO DOUBT i will get flammed for this but oh well..
He made me a really nice burger.....great feed.
When I finished he came up to me and said,
"If you didnt like the burger then please tell me.........if you liked the burger then tell everybody"
True story.....

Thanks for the kind words.Rogue Patrol wrote:Oh, and even tho I was filming I haven't reviewed any of the footage but I can't wait to see Adrian nail that Bonus gate again......

We worked really hard on getting that buggy finished (or as close to finished as time would permit ), so its great to see that all our hard work was appreciated.
Thank you.

Hey, wheres the scores?
Anyway, Great event.
I was really concerned when i saw that we were running some of the courses on terrain that has now been used quite heavily for the past couple of years. But i was absolutly blown away by how great the courses turned out.
Big congrats to Sam and tom for setting some kickarse courses.
Big thanks to all the officials and judges that volunteer their own time to support this great sport.
To me the best drive of the weekend was seeing Pete drive the first part of the shoot-out, very smooth. It was sorta down hill from there though.
Really huge thanks must go to Lil Tom for putting in heaps of late nights and early morning to help get the buggy done in time. (next time i tell you to bolt that winch in i meen it).
And thanks also to Bec and Lochie for putting up with me not been home much of late, your support is priceless.
Overall the event was great, like Same Kneck said it was back to the old days of wheeling (well it was for some of us anyway). Great fun, good courses and a great bunch of competitors.
Looking forward to seeing you all again at Round two of the Qld winch challenge.

I'll have the scores put up sometime today when i get to work. I intended to put them up last night, but they were on Sam's laptop which was at work.
Onto the comp.
Some of the best line's ive seen so far were on the A1 and the shootout courses. Just insane to see buggies manage to get thru them and some flawlessly with a lot of difficulty.
I'll either put the scores up today or get Sam to put them up.
Bring on the next round!!! -
custom bar work, 4x4 parts, trailers, anything out of steel/alloy :D
We really enjoyed the courses and the atmosphere in general. Thanks to Sam, Tom and all the others involved in organising and judging the event.
I like driving the tight technical course (even though my buggy is the size of a Mack truck)
Bring on the pics! We have a lot, but the camera's up on the Gold Coast with Troy, so won't see them till he gets back
