steering dampener

Post by punk_180 »

Hey guys and girls,

I have just fitted an OME 2" lift to my 80 series and that is all good. But i cant get the standard steering dampener off.

I was just wondering how the hell you get it off? I can get the nuts off but then i cant pull it out of the mount that connects to one of the steering arms. It seems as though its seized in there and wont slip out.

i have tried whacking it, drowning it in WD40 etc but it wont cme out so i was wondering if there is a special technique to getting it out.

thanks all

get a tie rod end removal tool from repco, or super expensive, or your fav local auto supplier.
Use that.

I heated mine up to expand the eye a bit (in theory :?), then used a big hammer and a tie rod tool as suggested by trains.
