I have this problem since driving through some salty water....my car started coughing and splattering, and dies.I have checked my plugs ,leads, checked the computor for codes and nothing. My Suzuki Jimny with m13a engine sometimes runs for an hour than die and not want to start, other times it does not want to start at all.I have replaced the crank angle sensor and the cam angle sensor.I have no distributor i have 2 coil packs.I have sprayed every electrical plug with wd spray with no luck.
Ok i put a fuel pressure gauge on the vechile i have perfect fuel pressure ,even when it does not want to start.I put the suzuki scan tool on the vechile and no codes to be displayed.I put a noid light on each of the fuel injector electrical connector plugs and i had an interesting find, cylinder no 1 and 4 flashed once then did not flash anymore when it was cranking and not wanting to start,of course i checked each connector seperatly..... one connector at a time.Cylinder no 2 and 3 kept flashing on and off on and off.Is this normal ?? shoudn't cylinder 1 and 4 keep flashing as well? maybe its like that untill the vechile starts?.Now i checked for spark again.Cylinder 1 and 4 both had spark when cranking but cylinder 2 and 3 did not.
So that means cylinder 2 and 3 are getting fuel constantly but no spark and cylinder 1 and 4 get spark but only 1 pulse of fuel ,which is not enough to start vechile. Its only like this when it is playing up.
Is this normal?? now i am thinking it might be in the computor causing me this trouble .What do people make of this ? i have checked my computor circuit board and did not see any signs of arking on circuit board or water damage.
can anyone help??

Check your earths before you go replacing your ECU. Injectors are a swithed earth with constant power. If you drove through salt water there is a possibility that one of the earths for the ECU is corroded. Even check the earth at the battery terminal and the battery to body earth. If the ECU got water in it then it's shagged. If it didn't then it's not likely to be at fault.
When it plays up it may be an idea to get a jump wire and pin it to the ECU earth pin to see if it helps.
Check injector outputs at the ECU and CAS inputs at the ECU to ensure the ECU is getting what it needs.
Good luck
Cheers Dan
