surf rod + sierra?
surf rod + sierra?
how has everyone dealt with carrying a surf rod with a sierra. i dont have a bullbar so a rack isnt an option. it fits in the car (just) but i was just wondering what others have done.
What i did was put a hoop on my bumper, in pic.
and i bought a rocket launcher style holder to mount to that.
Then where the two rubber stops are on the top of the fold down windscreen i unscrewed the rubbers and got some small metal tube that was long enoght to go to each of those rubbers and flattened each end of them, drilled a hole each end and then screw the rubbers back on top to hole the tube. i put some foam on it.
When i mput my surf rod on it i just cable tie the rod to that tube at the top of the windscreen.

I THINK ICAN, I THINK I CAN!
I Just slide the butt of the rod onto the passenger foot well, then let the tip of the rod hang out the back (the rear is either rolled up, or one zip undone. The overhang of the rod isn't an issue for me, because everytime I've carried a long rod i've been towing a 6x4 box trailer with camping gear in it.
I also wrap the rod with 3 or 4 strips of felt along its length so it doesn't get 'chaffed'.

Wheeling on completely wicked angles, without even looking stable.
