better for what. Spell out what you want to use it for. There is oviously so many variables that a little more detail would be good.

In general the Surfs have proven to be popular and reliable, spare parts are available but some can be a little harder to get but not too much of a problem

there are no regulations in place about winding the clock back on imports, while they are either waiting to be loaded, or are loaded, or even when they get here prior to ADR checks, they all have low klms on th clock when you look at them, but in reality.... ??? :?:

most imports have low ks due to fact that after 3 years they get taxed huge fees for rego.its acually cheaper(about $400)for them to call the wreckers to tow it to the junkyard.

GREAT IDEA! (for two people anyhow;)

YEP! beach only i deny anyone to have more fun AND CHEAP to pick up. All you got to remeber is that dakdaks need to be serviced by a dakdak specialist... beware stroker 1835's unless you know history... try get a twin port... gee i almost have the 'BUG' again...

best fun i ever had for 3 grand in a motor vehicle

not really very forthcoming with details are you.

How many people will be in it ie a family, just you?
How far do you have to travel to get there?
What sort of beach driving, just driving to fish there, dune running?
What sort of budget?

You could just go a Sierra, cheap lots of fun perfect for the beach

For the beach a surf is good value mate :D Big nuff to carry a fair bit of gear, pretty economical, comfy and decent aftermarket support. Plenty of bling stuff for the sand to f#$k up too

Depends how big a rig you want really. If you were lookin at a paj a surf should suit nicely ;)

This one is a bit of a myth about Japan. As cars get older they need more frequent inspections, which does cost a fair bit more, but it's in the order of hundreds of $$ a year. Not enough to make you scrap a car.

The problem is that the arsehole testers - who are barely inspected by the government - will fail a car for having worn parts. They make a fortune by forcing repairs on people to pass the shaken (roadworthy). Show any mechanic a 5 year old car and he can find many parts that can be replaced. Now factor in the total absense of pattern parts for most components and you pay OEM prices and franchised dealer labour rates. It's about this time that the salesman appears with a glossy brochure for the new model and a criminal trade in deal.

Strangely most people go for it...

Toyota make ya motor!!

Post by hobpedlar »

I can reccomend any Toyota.
Ya can flog em and bog em,hit em with a stick.
Drown em and roll em and fix em flick.
S&*T that's pretty poetic.
It's a common known fact that Toyota parts grow wild along most bush tracks right next to the holden parts (like the same climate ya know.)
Honestly, bloody reliable and when they do eventually break they are cheap to fix. Many, many parts interchange between models for easy upgrades or mods and there are heaps of blokes on outerlimits to help with good advice.
Go the good old Jap Holdens...Toyota
In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. But, in practice, there is.

Gotta agree with ya BJ,
seeing its for the beach solely, then salt corrosion is a major factor... why spend 10k on a 4bee that will devalue by half in 12 months because of corrosion...
buy BJ's rig and you
save $$$$
look really
go alot more places than a stocky
more n likely get your $$ back in 12 months time !!!
and with the $3050 savings ya make buy us a slab of JIM BEAM each, put on a bbq and stripper and invite us to the party !!!! :D
