at first i thought it was just the suspension clunking around as it usually does till i know have a noticable clunk that comes from the rear at times i can only determine when there is initial drive load to the rear, its just one clunk then drives no dramas and i can only seem to make it happen doing the following and this isnt 100% surity during my test runs.eg, from a standing start or driving into a drive way (low speed stuff).
i had my brother drive the car back and forward while i looked underneath and im pretty sure its in the rear tail shaft but couldnt determine which end as it was pissing rain.
Ive recently converted to part time 4wd and was thinking unis but i thought the noise would be continious if this were the case no.......this sounds expensive.
thanks in advance
regards
nathan

more than likely a uni (hopefully for you
)... I've had to replace 3 unis in my lifetime and each time it was a slightly different noise
... once was as you described it and got progressivly worse. Get under it again with sum1 driving and make sure whethere its coming from the rear or not. Maybe jack it up and put it on axle stands?
If its not the uni's but comming from the rear it'll be something in the d$ff
. But i'd put my money on uni.
60 + Turbo, 33"s
Found this thread while searching for something else and noticed that it has no answer til now. So if youve got a rattle in your 80 with aftermarket arms this could be your answer...
Turned out that the snake racing adjustable arms stripped the thread on both lower control arms. Fixed it by welding them solid after adjusting correctly.
Better late than never,
Cheers
