tyre vibrations

Post by simcoe »

ok so iv done some testing on my troublesome cooper st's and it
seems that when ever i go forbying either on sand, mud, gravel ect with hard or flat tyres and with a bouncing sort of motion, ie going over consistant sand dunes or mud rutts and rises which cause tyre "squishing" there is always a tyre vibration at 90 km and up when back on sealed roads..!Then the next day the vibration is gone. Now this vibration is quite obtrusive and very annoying, especially coming home from trips away
Has anyone out there had this problem or have any idear what the hell is goin on..?? o'neils is still persistent that its my truck thats the problem, will be there on the wknd demanding some sort of action after discovering this latest f*** up in the tyres..!

thanks

It sounds like you have something stuck to the rim on the inside which is upsetting the balance. Next time it happens have a look at the insides of the rims behind the rotars to see if it is caked with mud as this can cause vibration on the bitumen.

nah theres definately nothing stuck to the rim.
each time iv tested iv cleaned the rims and tyres first then done a highway run.
next day the vibration is no where to be felt...!

i had a similiar problem with cooper stt's but mine generally happened the day after wheeling. Coopers swapped them under warranty for MTZ's but i feel they have a similar fault. I think it comes down to the consruction of the tyre
