Cooling the V8 LADA

Post by drduff »

Hi there y'all

Just curious :? , just finished putting a smick 3.5ltr Rover V8 (dynoed @ 550 rwhp) in my LADA. Want to run thermo's cos i plan to comp FCUK out of it & now with all the extra Ponies under the bonnet I need an Awsome cooling system to back it up. I realised the standard engine fan set up was drawing too many ponies from my right foot when a new Clubsport R8 blew me off at the lights yesterday.

Any feedback on the LADA  appreciated.

Anyhoo, my question is what is the difference between the AU & BA fans :?:

 So ... how many vehicles are you building?

So far there's a GU with a 3.5, the Lada with a 3.5, and a 3.8 Ecotech in a 4runner.

 Mmmmmm ... V8 Lada <insert drool icon>

;) driving from the back seat - right?

550rwhp and an r8 beats you. Sounds like the fan is drawing about 500hp. Have the mods been at this thread, I'm sure I made a similar comment previously? Maybe I'm loosin it and they do make Rovers that powerful.....

i feel a little envy, or perhaps just some tall popy sindrom going on in here.

he prob is full of shit about some power figures but arent we all.

any in answer to your question... AU and BA fans there is no diffence. the BF came out with one large fan with dule speed functions instead of using two small fans one high speed and one low speed

There is a difference between EL and AU fans, but probably none between AU nd BA. From what I here they are the ducks guts for putting air through radiators. I got quoted $150.00 second hand from the wreckers, so there is not much to lose by trying.

I run a Davies Craig 16" ($250.00) on a 4 Runner V6 and have not had any probs when low ranging in 40 degree heat. But I will go for AU fans on the 5 litre if they fit the radiator, they are a fairly wide set of fans.

And not to be repetitive, they do not like muddy water, but a quick hose out soons fixes them up.

Cheers

I tried the falcon fans in my scout 392CI and it over heated, went back to the steel fan runs waaaay cooler now and yes i fitted it properly no gaps around the edges.

I agree the 550 rwhp sound wrong that’s 750hp at the crank.

I would like to know the specks on the motor and gear box t/case and diffs.
The lada's have a 1600 fiat motor the and front diff bolts to the block.

Any who back to the fan, I don't think a fixed fan would gain much in HP in the real world.
