Re: 105 smoke emmissions
Oil guage tells you oil pressure not oil level. This will vary depending on revs and temperature. What were the circumstances that the oil pressure (guage) dropped?ca wrote:gday everyone info needed ive just come back from a 5000 km trip in my 100 series .ran well but the whole back panels are covered in black soot.what could be the problem. Also the oil guage would sometimes drop in level eventhough the dipstick indicates that its full.any info would be much appreciated
Black soot means incomplete combustion. Could be for a number of reasons, overfueling, bad injector spray pattern, bad timing etc etc. YOu would need a diesel mechanic to diagnose this for you.
Could simply be that you were working the engine too hard going up hills. BLowing a small amount of soot is not a probem, if you labour the engine up hills it will blow more soot, and if you havent washed the car for 5000km's the soot would probably build up.
no, thats wierd, you should have constant oil pressure at the same RPMca wrote:the circumstances with oil pressure was at normal cruizing speed.it dropped and would come back up again so i guess it may be normal variation
if you drop your rpm then it may go down, but certainly it shouldnt drop if you havent changed rpm.
