How much u planning on spending on the old girl?

Can u fit turbo's and do all the work urself or do u need a workshop to do the work?

How much rwhp or rwkw u after?

There are a few things to work as i have finished turboing my tb42 and it blew my budget out and just woundering what ur planning on spending as it all adds up pretty qucik.

Becuase u can spend $1200 on a manifold or u can buy a $350 cast one.

You can buy a top of the line turbo like Garrett or something or u can get ebay stuff.

Just try think of what u want how much u wanna spend etc etc

Good luck

Maybe supercharging would be easier if on a low budget. A Toyota supercharger is pretty cheap and should do the job.

i dont think a little charger of a toyota would be big enough for a big 6 nissan.
arent they designed for 2litre engines?

Fark that if ur going to do something either do it right or don't do it all..

What would u rather spend say for "example sake"

10K on a turbo system makes 250rwhp and 1500ft.lb tourqe or

5K on a toyota supercharger and make 150rwhp and 600 ft.lb

I may be wrong the supercharger may make 500rwhp but i reakon it would be to small as said above and better off either going the turbo way or v8 conversion way or even supercharger way and bolting a decnt supercharger on it.

Good luck

I hate to admit it, but I too did some homework on fitting the SC14 supercharger to my TB42. You can get one second hand straight from the shipping container for about $300. Yes it will provide a limited increase in performance. Yes it is from a small capicity engine but it was a 6 with twin cams and 4 valves. So what, you say. A 3ltr twin cam with 4 valves will use more airflow in terms of volume than a TB42 at less than say 4000rpm. And to gain more boost you will need to spin it faster to gain more volume as well, which is possible with a smaller pulley from CRS. More revs require more volume, which the SC14 can't provide without going to lunch on itself. It will work though, and cheaply at that. It has proven very sucessful on the V6 Commodores. And no, not the CRS bolt on kit either. Do some homework first and you'll see the benefits yourself. Also check mr2supercharger.com . Having said all that, Mulisha is right. If you want quality power for many years to come, pay good money and do whatever you choose, properly. A supercharger is more linear in power, starting from idle up to redline. A turbo is more kick in the arse, but starts higher up. How much higher up, is up to the person paying. But still, go ahead, I'm dying to know what I didn't do. Same as me reading Mulisha's posts on his turboed TB42. Another path I was heading. I bought heaps of parts and did all the maths on which turbo to use, then said, stuff it. GO THE CHEV!!

My turbo setup cost me approx $5000 and i have 192rwkw on 35 muds (1 being a wrangler and 1 a BF not balanced and on bent and buckled rims). So IMO it can be done relatively cheaply just have to be prepared to put some serious hours into research and in the shed. Keep the missus happy

as to the original question, i would not put a turbo up to a tb42 carby it wont hold the pessure as a blow through and there is no point spending shit loads of money and only running 4-6 pound you want around 10.

the money spent on a nissan carby to seal it up you could buy a addaptor a put a better suited carby or proferably run lpg through a gas reseach or similar, and you'll have to up grade your dizzy as the points wont handle it.
i know you never mention budget, everyone else did but it'll cost you around the same as a v8 conversion which is where im headed.
Im soon selling my (still in car) tb42 carby'd, 150 psi per pot new water pump, recently reco'd head ($800) extractors ($550) and crane cams electronic dizzy and 60,000volt coil ($550) gas mixer and converter ($500) etc.. if you where realy wanting to go turbo this may make a good donour and some thing to make all your fittings / manifolds etc.. too, so your car is not of the road for long just a suggestion

thanks for all the replys guys, it was really just an idea because i can get my hands on a cheap t03, but offroader had the answer i need, the carby cant handle boost, well not without alot of work, which is what i was worried about, i know ecus can adjust fuel on the fly, little harder with jets ;) i was more or less lookin at a simple low boost bolt on but i think i might save the turbo for my ford 6 ;) and keep savin for a 350 chev conversion :D

mate u can run a XF thrittle body and Impco blow thru mixer and a impco converter.. no need for computer then they grab yaself a cast manifold and ur t3 turbo sort out a wastegate and intercooler if u wish or add on at a later stage.

There are cheaper ways and there more expensive ways just up to you which way u want to go..

350 chev conversion won't be cheap either so up to you really if u wanna here a 6 with a whistle or a crumble of a V8..

Typhoon, hell yeah! Its the FPV version of an XR6 Turbo...

Where do people get custom manifolds from when making your own kit? Is there a japanese or arab kit with decent manifolds available?
