Best budget spotlight for HID conversion?
I want to make up a pair of 'cheap' (but not crappy) HID spotlights by fitting an ebay or similar HID kit into some $100 or there abouts spotlights eg Narva's etc
Can anybody recommend a reasonably priced budget light which will take a HID bulb with minimal mods - preferably just drop in?.
What should I be looking for in a spotlight for HID compatibility eg bulb type, space behind the bulb, wiring access etc?

I put a HID kit in some rally 1000's and was blown away by how good it made them. The narva's looked good aswell. I ended up putting the kits in some IPF's. The rectangle spread ones. There are better lights around but the IPF's give a good spread which is what i ws after. If you want distance bung them in some narva spots
As far as an indecent proposal goes, I'd accept nothing less than $100,000 to tolerate buggery. Any less and it's just not worth the psychological trauma.
The cheapest kits I can see are around $190 including postage. Thats for two 35w globes and a pair of ballasts/igniters.smileysmoke wrote:whats a HID kit worth?
i was thinking this would be a great mod also.. good timing on your post
So if the spotties cost say, $100, thats around $300 for a pair of HID lights....
Anything between 4300k and 6000k is good. Anything less and there abit yellow anything more and there blue. And if you go real high there purple and put out less lumens than candle.tuff4runner wrote:im lookin at puting them in ipf 900xs spot and spread how do u think thay will go with hid and whats the best light to put in ie 4000k and so on
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY....
Make sure you check what sort of globe the 900xs has, don't think it has H3 like most others (my fourby's in the panel beaters, so I can't check)tuff4runner wrote:im lookin at puting them in ipf 900xs spot and spread how do u think thay will go with hid and whats the best light to put in ie 4000k and so on

Am fairly sure that they use a standard JCY bi-pin halogen bulb.physh wrote:So could those 180mm Nitestalker Roo Lites' (the "similar to" Lightforce 170 ones) be converted to HID?
Would the kit needed be the same as LF170's?
If not, what kit would I need?
You'll need an adapter mount to mount say a H3 bulb...
(No manufacture that I have ever seen make a proper metal halide bi-pin bulb in a 6.35mm size)
Wanna be a guniea pig to do it?
