gq cage mounts

hey all, building a rollcage for the mav, looking at the front firewall there isnt much space there for the cage,between the pedal and wall how have people done this in the past, photos would be appreciated

most guys cut the little square bits out of the front corners of the dash and run straight down from there to the floor. not to the fire wall

sorry i should have explained better. i have cut holes through the dash, and i can run the pipe down to the floor but it just sits really close to the accelorator pedal, i just wanted to know how close peoples really are.

i took that plastic cover completely off and ran the pipe down to the rear (rear of the car) of the now exposed fuses. ive got pictures but dont know how to post them yet.

gotta practice in the test site

i used 100x100x6mm angle as the foot cut 150mm long and cut to profile in the shape of the door. that way you can push the pipe hard up against the side and not worry about leaving a gap around the base for a complete weld. you can just run a verticle up, up the side of the pipe and the angle.

the bolts are 12mm. im not sure how im going to fill the gap where the wire is running, im thinking round bar ground down to fit then welded to the plate. the wire will be moved before it gets welded permanently.

the angke is actually 100x75x6

same as mine. did you manage to clear the fan unit on the other side? I didnt bother filling the gap under the plate.

Yeah kind of. i cut the dash mount back to the nut holes and hit that lumpy bit with the angle grinder.

Mine is pretty much the same on my 80 series, you'll probably find your heel will sit out to the left and your ankle will kinda wrap around the bar if that makes sense!!
Ive got smallish feet so not much of a problem, but some makes with
big flippers just shake their head
Gets a bit sore on long trips but thats bout it.

Mine is slightly different. My footing is shaped about 50mm up the firewall. I welded a piece on the side wall that is fold to the shape of the floor and then weld the main piece of the footing tto that. Basically I've reinforced that entire corner. I have shifted the cab back on the chassis so the footing doubles as a body mount as well. The cage then comes throught the panel the wipers are in (exo cage) and stright to the floor, Also I've re wired the truck so no fuse panel also nothing at all behind the dash.
When driving my foot just rests against the up right and is no big deal.
