Baleno and Vit 4sp Auto Do they match?

Post by Remydog05 »

So can a Vitara Auto elect 4spd bolt up with a Baleno 1.6 efi coilpack version?

I would get a ECU and Loom from the Baleno 4spd auto also.

AND

Has anyone done the above with a Baleno 1.8??

These motors seem to be going a lot cheaper than the vit 1.6 efi!

Yes the Baleno 1.6 and the Vit 4 speed auto can be mated.

The 1.8 is a short stroke version of the Vit J20A 2.0. The auto will work but the bellhousing and flex plate will be different. The torque converter also has a different stall ratio.

Whats the difference between the baleno and the vit 1.6 mpfi ones.

Coilpack is obvious and is that swappable on to the G16B vit.

Thanks cj

Dunno Nic??

So I wonder if the Baleno 4spd auto ECU would talk to the Vit 4spd Auto?

If so this should be a great Conversion.

If u can get the wiring diagram for the baleno auto i think i have the auto wiring diagram at home for the vit 4spd.

If u are good freinds of a dealer you should be able to get the diagrams easy enough. i got mine from the dealer book.

also what about getting a vit 4spd ecu and wiring and then wiring it back via the select few sensors back to the baleno ecu.

Btw, wiring diagram for the ecu

http://www.redlinegti.com/files/akil/ba ... no_ecm.pdf

t is for the later twin waste spark ignition coil 1.6 Balenos...
The ones which have a camshaft position sensor in place of the distributor. (CMP sensor)

It will not suit the early ones which have a distributor and only one ignition coil.
They have different ECU's.

i'm at present "grafting" a baleno ECU, a 4sp Vitara Transmission Control Module, into a mid 90's sierra loom.

My head is spinning, from looking at the diagrams and wires.

here ia a link, it has both distributor and coil-pack wiring diagrams

Bugga. i had that in my archives so must have gone walkies.

found this thou, all pinouts there

and trouble codes beware of different varients that may be out there.

Mugginsmoo, have fun, doing the vit mpfi to sierra and cleaning up the loom was bad enough.

Are you guys sure the J20 does not bolt to a G16a ? Been done here a bit ( not by me ) and from what I have heard they bolt up .

Means you can bolt a J20 or j18 into a 413 with the standard 1600 adapter kit :) . Just the engines are $$$$ over here .

Oooops  You're right. I'm so used to thinking in terms of what the 2.0 V6 trans will bolt to. The J20A will bolt up to the G16 manual trans but there are differences that need to be addressed. I talked to someone who has done this swap about whether it could also be done with a auto some time ago and he did think it was doable if you had the appropriate flex plate etc.

Seems the 1.6 Baleno will go with 4spd auto ok ive just gotta get the wring all correct! Fun Fun Fun!

I also see a lot of balenos are turboed on the redline site! mmmmmm boost!!!!!!!!

So 1.8 Baleno will bolt up to a 4sp auto vit BUT there will be further probs to sort out.

Ive found Baleno 1.6 motors for anything from $880 to $1600

1.8's for $1200 to $2000

All of these are anything from motor only through to complete ready for conversion.

$1200 from one wreakers in Sydney for a Bal 1.6 ready for conversion!

1.6 Vit nothing for under $1400 but thats for engine only! Still need all the other gear for the conversion!

you have to download all of the files

extract them into there own folders in a folder

to open "click" on file #1 and "click" TOP

double click on the page and then on the model or manual you want, it'll open right up.

i'm having distributor problems, but the rest is easy.
