speedo problem

Post by TRD86 »

hey guy, I've got a hilux with a commodore v6 conversion in it. I've just had the auto rebuilt . While they were road tested it with the Scanner on it they found that the out put shaft speed of the auto was around 20km lest then road speed. They reckon that it's running too lower pessures in the auto for the road speed and that it'll bun the auto over time. Has any body had this problem and found a fix for it.

Also i'll be running 35" on it soon.

mmm strange alot of things control line pressure tps map sensor etc what was line pressure? how are the judging road speed i would believe that is the auto was doing 60 and the vehicle was doing 40 that would indicate that it is slipping but the other way aroung is not.How did you calibrate the spedo in the car to suit the electronic speed sensor on the auto?if the spedo was out it would cause the same problem.

i haven't changed anything it's still got the commodore vehicle speed sensor in the adaptor kit for the transefer case. The speedo is just the old cable one in the tansefer case.

Mate, im not saying any of this from experience, but it sounds like the spedo and speed sensor are out to eachother. Im guessing if the auto was slipping, the vehicle would shudder...commodore speed sensor would be set up to 3/1 ratio diff on 28 inch tyres where as the lux spedo is probably 4.3 on 31's std. You may need to get a marks 20% reduction box on it so it changes at correct speeds....like i said, this is only guessing thats the problem and you dont have the reduction box.
Maybe the problem is actually the shift points in the computer that is being told the wrong info...and that will burn the box over time.
