Get the Jimny box with the engine if you can. The gearlever is about 160mm further back (easily accomodated for) but jack shaft is the same. The jimny box has the same ratios as the Sierra but is heaps newer to begin with.

I am doing this conversion at the moment, Gutless on this forum has previously done it as well.

this jimny has an auto box in it. Does it make any difference, is the gear lever in a different postion?.

The auto would have lower ratios wouldn't it?

hmm...could be a worthy pickup if its an easy conversion. How has yours gone diddyzook?

The auto doesn't really have lower ratios but it is soooo much better to drive off road. This is a very sweet conversion into a sierra, probably the best combination of ease of fitment and outcome.

Tunnel needs slight widening, speedo needs a VSS from a vitara, other than that, a vitara fuel tank or a coil sierra tank with a vitara pump.

The auto will want a good cooler and will not tolerate incorrect gearing (heat) , so when complete, you will need to have the car close to stock jimny gearing or slightly undergeared (revving a little harder at 100kph)

Wiring is a bit fiddly, but once sorted it works just like it did in a jimny, and the conversion is easy to engineer.

You will never want to go back to a manual once you go with the auto. no way.

Steve.

PS I have done this conversion into a WT (with a G13BB rather than the better M13 motor)with "a friend of Greg" and it is a sweet thing.
