Did they use Chemi weld?

Post by 90Mav »

Hi all. I brought my mav (TD42) from a dealer recently, and along with a whole page of other problems i returned it under warrenty with a suspected cracked head....

I was thinking cracked head, cause of very slow bubbleing in radiator, and high fuel consumption.
The motor seemed to preform well tho. and had no black smoke...which made me wonder where the fuel was going..

The dealer now tells me that the cause of the water loss was a badly blocked radiator (although it didn't overhead) so they have rebuilt the radiator...

This all seems rather odd to me, although i suppose if the radiator was that badly blocked it could be sucking air through a pinhole in the bottom tank or something which then bubbles up when cap is removed..
Has anyone heard of this happeninng?

It seems more likely to me that they threw a bottle of chemi weld in it, then rebuilt the radiator to get rid of the evidance. (would there be evidance?)

The high fuel consumption remains a mistery, though the dealer tells me it is fine now.(I don't call 70L in 150km fine) perhaps it is a fuel leak with the tank full (as im sure these bodgy @$%^s didn't fill it to test).

Can anyone shed any light on the situation in general?

And more specifically, can i tell if they've used chemi weld, now that the radiator's been flushed?

Any advice would be appreciated.

dude, 70L per 150kms... FFAAAARRRRRKKKKKK!!!! are you sure someone hasnt borrowed some juice of ya?? or are you towing triples down the princes hwy??

Sitting at 120km/h I only use around 17L per hunge. I think your fuel useage is slightly excessive. ;)

Not to sure on the chemi weld thing though.
