80s cv joints

Post by grott »

In what month/year did they change 80 series cv joints to the longer splines. Can I put the long ones on a 5/92 model if I change the drive flange as well or do I allready have the long ones? Thanks in advance for any info.

Its either 94 or after 94 they changed them, if you get the thicker flanges you'll be fine...

8/92 was the last constant gxl/sahara to have short c/v. After that, the new 4.5 motor came out with bigger brakes etc etc, all constants from then on had longer c/v and drive plate. If you change both, it all works. Now..here is the twist....all part time 80's kept the short ones due to thesame FWH being kept.
