Greetings,
I've just noticed what appears to be some sort of oil leaking from the back and bottom of the A/C compressor on my GQ Patrol. The droplet coming off the bottom looks like oil, but the stuff that's on the ground is very dark (virtually black) and quite sticky.
I'm assuming this is bad news? Time to get an A/C mechanic to take a peek at it?

from what you have said you compressor seals are leakin which in turn is leak a/c gas
you need to have you compressor re sealed which is about 300 - 450 depending on if it needs any thing else plus a regas on your a/c

the oil in ur ac compressor is a light blue colour, but should also have a green/yellow flurocent dye added into the system to help detect leaks. if it is indeed a compressor problem it is cheaper to replace the compressor rather than get it fully overhauled, unless you can re-fit the seals urself.

this is correct, if you starve the compressor of oil the unit will seize and send metal fragments through your system and then things will get expensive.its aford not a nissan
a/c oil is light brown (it is in mine anyway) not black and if it was leaking that much your a/c wouldnt work as it wouldnt have any gas left
i would check else where like your alt if it is a diesel

on the back of the alternator, you have youyr vacum pump, the alt shaft runs out and has a seal in the back of the alternator housing, normally the seals wear and fail, or the shaf ends up scored,PeowPeow wrote:whats the deal with the alt?
I got the same problem but it is pouring out and at the side of the road
what is the deal just a couple of seals or hoses or trip to mechanics?

i pulled mine out and took it to the auto elecs, the speedy sleeved the shaft and fitted up a new seal, all fixed,
the seal stops oil from the vac pump entering the alternator, when the seal fail oil travels through an out a drain hole in the bottomof the alt,
findin its way down over the AC pump, then drippin on the ground,
