I am from South Africa
I have a 1980 Range Rover Classic 2 Door.
It has a 3.5 V8 with a single Weber 38mm Carb on it.
I have the option of buying a 1996 Discovery 3.9i V8 with a hole in the block.
Would it be possible to fit the Fuel injection components to my carbed motor?
If so what are the pros and cons?

If the Disco is a belt engine, then all the injection stuff will fit straight on.
If you are being a perfectionist, you should relieve the inlet ports of the heads to match the injection gasket. This is easily done with a Dremel if you are VERY careful to catch the swarf.
You may have to fit a Unichip to even out the mixtures, but hey they are made in SA so should be cheap!
I am not sure about a multirib belt Disco but I think it should be OK. The part I am not sure about is the Thermostat housing and alternator placement.
Of course you need a swirl tank ( if using your tank), and a fuel return to the fuel tank, and a high pressure pump and lines. If you have access to the Disco you should be able to swap them across.
