Bucket seats?
I was wondering what seats people have in their 4wd's that have come from other cars such as WRX's, Skylines', etc aswell as SAAS, Monza, Recaro, etc & how well they fit?
Particularly interested in what seats are being fitted to GU/GQ utes .
Pics would be nice too.

More poke = More smoke!!!
How tight are they against the B pillar? A mate of mine has WRX seats in his GQ. I sat in them the other week & they're sh!thot I reckon. I'll be looking @ getting a pair for my GU ute soon hopefully.botty wrote:Have just fitted a pair of WRX seats to mt GU ute fitted quite nice had to modify the brackets nothing to hard

R32 Skelines didn;t run recaro's factory. Series 8 RX7 type RZ's had recaros, but these are very similar to the seats in the Type R integra (red, shoudler support)CYCO ZOOK wrote:set of recaro s
think they are out of an R32 GTR skline or Rx7
fit nice in a sierra swb
There might have been some other versions in RX-7s too, but these are the ones I have seen.
Buying second hand "performace" seats from imports is ok as it goes, but I wold defininety be looking for name brand seats (whch from the japanese market genrally means recaro, who manufacture in Japan as well as Germany)
PS WRX seats are poor IMHO - we are looking at getting a new STI and the seats will be coming straight out for Recaro racing shells.
GU Bug, you will need to decide if you want/need a recliner or not. I run fixed back race seats (Sparco "sprint") in my Sierra and had them in my G wagen for years.
Personally, I like fixed back seats as they offer tonnes more support.
There are some Monza/autotechnica fixed back seats that are a spitting image of the recaro SP-G I have in my road car an are about 1/3 the price. Mock runs one in the Rodent in Ozrock and I was very impressed with it.
When dealing with a recliner, I would really only recommend recaro as they have by far the highest quality construction and reclining mechanism. Some other seat manufacturers actually use recaro mechansisms for the recliner because they are the best available.
It is much easier to make a "cheaper" fixed back seat with appropriate strength/durability.
I have not been impressed with the construction of most of the cheaper recliners, but I am aware that some brands are getting better (like SAAS, whose product in the 1980's and 90's was stunningly bad)

Mate, I wouldn't inflict them on anyone... In any case, they would go back in when we sell it.
I would just go recaro. They have excellent support, so if you get some second hand ones and they need a freshen up, they will rebuild them for you with all the right recaro parts, so either pony up for new ones or keep searching for some second hand.
(That's certainly the case with Idealseat in Melbourne)

For a good, cheap seat, I went with Honda Prelude buckets in my 40. Adj, Lumbar support, nice shoulder support, decent recliner mechanism etc.
I also like the wrx seats too.
