i think the gq one is taller and a bodylift may be needed.
linkages i think are different as well.
all this is only what i have heard and not what i know :!:
I was thinking of putting in a gq box with the lower first gear when or if my gu one blows up so i will be interested as well.
I have also "heard" that some non turbo diesel gu boxes have a lower first gear.

Here's a few photo's of the GU 5 speed box.

Anyone have any of a gq for comparison of shifter location?

There was talk of this a while back, i cant remember who did it but they had trouble with a spacer on the bell housing of one or the other. Maybe Ozy1?? I think it was a Sydney bloke.

i can also back this up, while they bolt in no dramas, the shifter holes dont line up, the GQ box will put yourshifter through your heater box,

also the top section of the gearboxes are different, the GQ item sits highter, but not sure weather the tope sections will swap over, thou i tend to doubt they will,
