V6 lux with x-over

Post by luxembuger »

Gday all, I've recently installed x-over steering in my 97 DC lux. It has a 3.8 commodore V6 and the top rock rod hits on the sump under susp compression. Just wondering if anyone knows if a different c'dore sump and pick up will solve this prob, or do i have to knock up a new sump? Cheers mates.

x over

Post by sloshy »

I got x over in my 94 lux 2.8td and it hits the sump and has put a 10mm dint in it but i've been running it like that for about 2 years and had no worries
as long as the crank won't hit it and it won't leak I can't see a problem

Dan
cheers Dan

Cheers Sloshy & Ruff, am thinking the rego boys aren't going to like the ridge in the sump is all. Already has a 7 in lift so dont want to go higher to fix. If castlemaine make one then i reckon i should be able to also, was just hoping to get out of it the easy way.

Considered getting your sump cut and shut? would cost less than getting a CRS one im sure. The boys from Haultech pretty much cut the sump in half on the buggy they built for A4WDM....
Cheers,

Had the same problem with the v6 in my lux, with cross ova steering.
Made up a reverse sump, as the ones you can buy are not cheap.
Not to hard to do if its a metal sump pan.

With a 7 inch lift why not install some longer bumpstops ? How bad does it hit ?
