I have been bying the american mags and they advertise a heap of differant type of Super Swampers can some one give a quick run down on which is better suited to what type of terrain thanks also what is a q78

Well...let me see if I can help:

TSL Bias: The original Three Stage Lug bias tire. Great for ALL ROUND offroading, not known for its street savviness

TSL Radial: This is the BFG MT killer. Basically the TSL tread with teh radial carcass. Not as strong as the bias, but is the 1st 50/50 tyre from Interco

TSL SSR: Same as above with siping for better rock/wet-tarmac traction and has somewhat for a side-wall tread to it. Nothig graet though

TSL STS: New extremely AT tyre. HUGE sizes, radial or bias. Prefered for show rigs ( :finger: ), snow, or sand...nothing for mud.

TSL Trexus: Another variant of the TSL tread in a radial form. Quite cheaper than the SSR, and supposedly handles better than the simple radial TSL

TSL SX: Steel belted bias TSL tread tire. Extremely tough sidewalls and SERIOUS side-wall tread. Great tire. fails a wee bit i nthe mud due to tighter tread than the normal TSL bias. Limited size to 38.5"

TSL Narrow SS: These were initially made for Dually trucks, but are known for their extra deep lugs and 34" hight couple with skinny "pizza-cutters" look. They are fancied by those who want to have a great traction tire, low lift, no cutting...since they tyuck nicely.

TSL Thornbirds: Supposedly ideal AT tyre seeing that its main lugs are used on tarmac whereas its side-wall lugs (which are raised a bit) can dig in mud/snow/rocks...etc...no one I know who is running these likes them and regrets using them.

TSL LTB: Yet another variant of the TSL tread. Supposedly made in south america thereby cheaper. Their lugs as MUCH larger and protrude past the sidewall. Limited to 34" in size. Good tire for a cheap mud tire.

TSL Booger: The ultimate in mud tires. This is the serious of seriousness. Only disadvantage is that they do not have the GREAT side-traction you'd like.

TSL IROK: New directional variant of the TSL tread. Still new, saw a set in person here in Saudi. Was not too impressed with them. Tread too shallow, too widely spread, and too soft...will NOT last me more than 2 runs.

The Q78 is a sweet-sized TSL Bias. It has very deep lugs, proving to be an aggressive size of TSL tread. Nothing special there. Rover people like it since its 35.5 x 10.5 which is a nice size for those lifted trucks.

does anyone know what the 36 and 35 simexs are worth im thinking bout some for my truck, was keen on some bfg krawlers but after seeing the prices they can stay in the shop.

a q78 swamper is about $510 ea
a 35x13.5 - 15 baja claw is $515 ea
a 37" mtr is $400
a 35 x 14.5 - 15 Bogger is $660 ea
a 35 x10.5 -15 Simex ET is $380

The biggest you can afford!

Get a TSL i found the boggers are a nightmare on sideslopes, awesome in mud. TSL good for allround stuff!

Get something better if you can afford it, like a 40" MTR, or a 39.5" Krawler.

If you get a swamper dont get the radials. From all of my experence the tsl for general wheeling and the sx for rocks. The q78 is a 36.5x10 tire.

gees i had no idea there were that many models!!
why don't they make it easy and call them 'swamper mud' 'swamper rocks' 'swamper mud and rocks' hahah we know they are a good tyre without the need for a catchy name!!! :D

FWIW, I've run 235/85 16 BFG TE, 265/80 16 TSl Radials, 33x12.5 TSL Bias, and now with 35 ETs. I also drove a GQ SWB with 35x14.5 SSR, and a YJ with 39" Boggers...got to say that the boggers are the BEST for STRAIGHT mud, but to my surprise, the GQ with the 2" less clearance drove a section the YJ had to be winched! :roll:

"Best Tyre" has a lot of variables, including terrain, size, width, engine, gearing, etc...don't overlook ANYTHING. My Disco is working GREAT with ETs now, if I replace them with boggers, i'd have MUCH less performance, I am sure (since my V8 is lazy and not revvy)
