Running a Snorkel with a Weber

i am looking at purchasing a snorkel to fit my WT suzuki.

Stock standard 1.3L with extractors - but want to fit a weber kit onto it.

This will mean i remove the standard airbox if i want to use the weber air filter, or i adapt the original airbox to fit the weber (so it matches up with the standard airbox, which fits the snorkel).

Adaptor made by Low range offroad (USA) for $39 US, plus $95 US for shipping?!?! Seems pricey.

Would it be hard to make one of these adaptors up, or has anyone hooked up the 32/36 Weber to a snorkel?

if you have a BL then you can adapt it like i did. The hard bit is finding the adaptor for the weber. I was lucky to find one at a swap meet. webers work better when the air enters the throats from directly above not from the side as this causes all sorts of problems with tuning.

This is another reason im glad to be rid of my weber :roll:
Ive seen standard seirra carb adapters cut out to fit the weber but I think it would seriously cut down air flow as the room between the top of the carb and the adapter is pretty small.
Ive seen a vit efi air box modded to be the adapter then ran weber filter inside it but you would need a body lift to fit it.
I ran a steel ring around the 9" filter case with a outlet welded in :roll: but with spoa ruf and 33s I decided I didnt need the snorkel.
I think but could be wrong did some webers come with a oval top that would be easier to work with than the standard top.

if you go to pitcrew you can buy the adaptor for $35?thats where i got mine :snipersmile:

Yeah, i have looked around wreckers and auto shops (never heard of pit crew?) and the only adaptor i have seen for a zuk was from low range offroad.

i have a 2inch BL - should be enough to clear the pipework, etc.

I have had Webers with an Oval ramflow filter on other cars (but with no snorkel).

will update on my progress - at least there are others out there that run a standard airbox onto a weber!

i was at allcarbs at shorty to day and he said no problem he can make them if there is a market :snipersmile:

Boner are you running a webber done by allcarb? Just curious as he said he could make mine run good offroad but said that it should have the bowl at the front not the back as we 4wd do. Just wondering if it would work. I gave up on my webber after 18months trying but my standard carb is going to allcarb this week.

no i set it up with bowl forward big jets and modified air vents. i got it of suzuki webber site in the usa :roll: sorry i cant remember the name of it as i put it on 2 yrs ago it stalls on really big hills never had any dramas as it started and went up them with more revs :snipersmile:

Yep I tried all that and everything else I could find on the net about webbers, still had a slight hesitation and would flood on steep downhills. The standard carb mighten have the power or ease of working on but at least it works :finger:
B4T was it you or Jr that talked about drilling a new hole for somthing to do with air and the idle circut?
I just re read a diagram about modding the vents and it says about filling in holes in the main body of the carb. Does anyone have better pics of this I only did the top section. I might have to have another crack at it.
Anyway this thread is about snorkels on webbers sorry for the hijack :roll:

it was Jr that re-drilled the idle circuit.

All carbys will flood at certain angles. the weber will still flood even after the float mods as fuel will eventually pour out the aux venturies on really steep angles. this cannot be avoided without major mods.

I now run a corolla carby and it is alot better off road but it lacks the top end power of the weber.
