Removal of Jimny Rear Seats

Post by Sally »

I just purchased a 2006 Jimny JLX to replace my Vitara that was written off, and wish to remove the rear seats to increase the room in the rear of the vehicle.

I have had a look at the seat, and it was not apparent how it can be removed. I would assume that you have to remove the bottom of the seat, before un-bolting the backs.

Has anyone removed the rear seats of their Jimny?

Thanks,

Sally.

The lower parts are easy, pull them forward so they sit up against the back of the front seats and undo the bolts on the floor on either side.

The tops:
Put them right forward and you'll see bolts on the floor between them, they may have a plastic cover on them depending on your model. Undo these.

On the sides, (push the fabric back) you'll see floor bolts on brackets, and two L shaped mounts, undo these. I can't fully remember the rest, but if you have a look, you should be able to work it out. They basically slide out towards the middle (eachs other) off two protruding bolts into the side of your quarter panel trim..

Hope this helps.... oh, once the seats are out, make sure you put the bolts back into the floor holes where they originally were... otherwise you... ummm... will fill up with water
DRS smells like a cat-food milkshake... and wet socks... and gorgonzola cheese... all whizzed up in a blender

Thanks for your help Squik, we got the rear seats out today, and have replaced the space with rubber so that we do not wreck the car when we put stuff in the back.
