Sourcing cheap control cable

Post by jungle_surfer »

Hi!

I'm working on a custom project, and I need custom length control cables (like handbrake cables) with sheaths. I asked at a marine supplies place, and they can supply a 4m length of 2mm dia stainless steel for $92. I was hoping to find something a lot cheaper than that. Any suggestions on where I should get them from? It doesn't have to be high-precision, low friction, good quality stuff, just backyard mechanic grade.

(I'm in Sydney)

Repco mechanical can make them up for you or any major brake place should be able to.

you said they can supply a 4m length, how long do you actually need it?

we have control cables in the work shop (gov.) hanging up. I might be aable to get one for you.

Try some pushy brake cables.

Tioga used to make an oversize cable for the brakes, Not sure on lenght though

Thanks for the replies!

I need two pieces of about 4m, and about 3m of sheath.

Can the sheath stuff be bought separately, or is there some other readily available, flexible but non-crushable stuff I could use?
