Hey Chris have you seen Kerry's camper trailer?

He built it from the ground up, I think it uses an early coil sprung swift axle, same track width as a wt sierra and stud pattern, so it tows through sand easily, has a slide out stove and some other fancy stuff. It's shaped like one of those T-vans.

See if you can get someone to get some info about it and some photos at the King Hut trip.

Yes, thats sort of what I got in mind, light and simple.
They were

Those ones seem to sell for under $500
Much better price than a few years ago

This is where we are at, at the moment.
Got an axle of similar track to zook.
And as luck would have it, the zook brake drums made a perfect adaptor to suit zook rims. Pix should be self explanatory.
Wil probably use vit rims to get track closer to that of the zook.
Tow bar was a WT one, with ends trimmed off, and fitted just before the last body mount, on top of chassis. Just made some brackets out of my old 1.o litre tow bar.
Sits nice and high, and close, giving a reasonable departure angle.

will the nuts work loose on the centre hub as they look like wheel studs in there with no head to grip when doing up or are they tacked in place.

Nic

They are front wheel studs press fitted in.
Ie the hole is half a mill less, then forced in.
They are f tight at the moment.
But I will be keeping an eye on them.
If it does become a problem, then they may get tacked.
Bolt heads were too hard to achieve clearance from wheel rim, while also not being too close to inner edge of hub.

After trailer is a goer, and I'm happy with it all, it may get new hubs made.
See what happens.

As I'm intending to use the hitch type in the pic, I'm not worried about how tight the room is with the tow bar. I wanted a good departure angle, not ruined by a sticky out bit of tow bar.
But in order to tow a trailer with a normal hitch I needed a bit more room.
Hence a bar cutting.

The site has _heaps_ of info on this bloke modifying his jeep and (if you can see past the fact that it's a different brand of car) there are a lot of good ideas that he's done

Less than 200kg loaded I hope.
Thats the weight of 2 people, it copes with that ok at the mo.
May go bigger donk one day.

Got some vitara rims now, thanks to Sam, so just need some boots.

Track has worked out close enough.
If I stick to skinny tires, it will only stick out a little.
Vit rims were the answer.

Me too, can't wait, but things will slow down for a bit, as it is rego bill time, then I'll get stuck back in soon after.

Have wired up the connector, so we are good to tow.

But tow hitch clearance to body won't allow Off Road, Until I get the off road coupling, which moves the tilt point back.

Just becareful towing with a modified towbar (not sure on vic rules) but in nsw it is illegal to modify a towbar in anyway shape or form and the insurance can be a bit of a hassle if they find that the towbar has been played with

Thanks, that is a good point, not sure about that in vic.
But I haven't modded the bar, thats out of my abilities, I just moved it back and up, thus just move mounting point.
I did cut off the excess width(wt to nt) tho.
I used the 1.0 litre nt mounting brackets.

I believe it is up to the task, to my best knowledge, but I no expert.

Done some more measuring and thinking.
Altho a bit rarer, a 5ft x 3'6 wide trailer would look and perform best.
4ft is too wide and 3ft would mean rather wide mudguard extensions.
Found some, but have missed out.
I try again soon.

Heavy duty on small trailers seems only to be rhs instead of angle as a draw bar...If this is true, then a light weight with a single draw bar right to the back may suffice?
