v8 carbies

Post by Steve_GQ »

I'm just about to order my new 350 chev for the mav, but can't decide on using a good offroad 'proof' carby or going to straight lpg.

how well do the holly 4wd carbies work? the holley on the 305 i have now is hopeless even after a 4wd kit has been installed in it.

cheers steve

Steve I gave up on "offroading" Holleys. I now use dual fuel.
A rebuilt Quadrajet (Rotchester) carby with a Holley blue fuel pump is good for mild 4wding, it can get up and down steep hills (Andersons,Sunset, Ellis type of hills) but if the going gets a bit bouncey the carby will cough a bit so thats when LPG is used.
It's a good setup if you do a fair bit of long weekends of 4WDing (I can still travel 600-1000km depending on how much low range work is done) even though this setup works for me I'm trying to work out how to fit another 110 ltrs of LPG tank under so I can go stright gas.
It only cost's $30 to travel 500 kms(Hi range driving) and if I can work out how to get a driving range of 600 - 800 kms on Gas, I'll be straight gas.
Cheers
Andrew
