MAJOR congratulations to all who competed ! In particular I would like to make mention all of the "Locals" who fronted:

Russ & Pete (of course!)
Graeme (Flipper) & Mick (Precious) - Who achieved a VERY credible 10th
Mark & Zac (Go the Swamp Donkeez !)
Brad (Shrek) and Chris (Donkey)
Jason (Crazy Eyes) and Wardy
Shawn & Adrian (Roundy)
Troy (Elf) and Josh

You guys have just lifted the bar another notch for all the "wannabe's" out there !

I'm certain that we will see a number of these blokes in action at the CQ Off Road Challenge on 25-26 August out at Seonee Park. Let's hope that thay can transfer their skills to a Team environment !!!!

What a great venue for rnd 2. We will be back next year even though we had so much bad luck right from when we left Caboolture thursday at midnight. Only had 15min sleep for thursday night  . Worked franticly on the truck to get it ready right up to the start of stage one. My usualy navi came down with the flu so got Dave who was a first timer to navi. He done as good as he could have for the short weekend of racing that we did have. Bent all four trailing arms one majorly. Had rear steering for Saturdays short run due to bent trailing arms. Smashed a shock. Lost lockers and free spool for one stage. Smacked a tree. Snapped an engine mount bolt.

Congrats to the Rocky boys for winning. That truck flies and can he drive or what.

Here is a couple of photos of the revamped truck. Black Dog Racing. See you at Tamworth.

they reckon they was getting enough back pressure. I just want more photos of the inner guard chop. I have it sussed though and as for hydro steer I dont think it is allowed in XWC. Have not checked my rule book. Too crook at the moment.

Any body able to PM me Robbie AVA truck contact details.

Could you please fill me in on how having no exhaust wastes all the power????

I would also really like to know why drag cars most of the time dont run exhausts?

because drag engines are built to run on no back pressure. 350 ramjets arent and he didnt appear to have that much work done to the engine.

your a mechanic, you should have first hand experience in the power difference between just headers and then placing an exhaust on. i know ive felt the difference an that was only with a 500hp clevo with custom headers that still needed the exhaust for best performance (twin 3 inch mandrel) still worked better than just headers.

you woulnt have a clue about that motor. it was a 350 ram jet. its no where near that now. its 383 with different computer different injectors and only just got dyno tuned thae week before. and please inform me how you build a motor to run with no back pressure. cause i am a mechanic and i have never heard this. i belive the only motors that need back pressure and its only minumal is turbo cars. also the super traps on the ends of the mufflers would have made plenty possibly even to much back pressure.

MMM said there was nothing in the rules about it, and was fine for them to run the hydro steer

my bad, i didnt realise it had traps on the back. and i dont know how they build em either but a mates old man just had an engine built by dawson motorsport to run no exhaust. why would rod dawson lie about that. and the mates dad has been in motorsport for most of his life, just has the money to pay for someone else to get dirty now.

fair enough its a 383 thats been worked, i was saying that not running an exaust robs cars of power, specially bottom end. which is heavily used in 4 wheel driving.

ill shut up now

That is a perfect example why you should never assume anything.

The motor was researched, built and tuned by WOZ at WM Motorsport, I not only work for him but he is my stepdad and I live in the same house a him.... and i can tell you, lots and lots of thinking went into that motor.

This engine combo was designed and built for torque across the rev range, and yes it is far from standard.

It has more than enough back pressure with small diameter primary pipes, a resonator and super trapps.

Oh and it is getting more work done to it

The engine in the rgm patrol from townsville was designed, built, engine managed and tuned by me. It is a 6inch rodded, 3 inch 700 stroke 383 with a compcams roller cam. The engine was only 30km old and only had base mapping on the dyno in brissy on thursday before the comp. The engine is designed to be a torque monster that will turn to 7000 rpm. It has small primary pipes, barrel muflers and supertraps. When it is finished it will make around 430 hp and about 500 ftlb of torque. I also tune sheety`s patrol and giantracing`s twin turbo lexus patrol all on EMS computors. WOZ WMmotorsport.

You will find that even Drag motors get there back pressure(minimal at that) from there extractors. Every motor does need some sort of back pressure. Turbo motors dont need back pressure from there exhuast because they get enough from there Turbo's. Well that is what Grandma said. :finger:

Rd 2 Rocky ARB XWC

Post by XTREME MMM »

:D :D :D

After thinking over this issue for some time regards Hydro steer. The vehicles that ran hydosteer at Round 2 will be exempt from below.

Hydro steer will not be allowed.

It appears that we are well & truely getting away from EVEN trying to be road legal and some people are building "Tuff Truck" style vehicles for the XWC. I would suggest that you do not go that way, if you are building a vehicle, have all your modifercations blue plated & approved, then I will not have people pointing fingers.

It appears that the main items that could make all the vehicle non compliance to road rules in all states are tyre size & suspension bump stop heights.

So lets leave it at that, if is not allowed on the road it is not allowed in XWC competition.

Regards
David (MMM) :D :D  :D

i think alot of people need to eat some concrete and harden the f#ck up. look at what won. low mount, bolt in shockeis, lots of power and very good team work. what huge advantage does hydro steer give them? i they can get is sorted out i think it will be better that normal steering but not huge amounts,
i remember going to a winch challenge as a sectator last year and there being like 2 cars with free spools. its a sport and there are gunna be new ideas. if its such a un fair advantage why not do it your self. its not super expensive considering there is trucks there with $8000+ winches and fuel injected v8 conversions. what about the 25 or so cars that finished before him with normall steering.
i think the winner of round two proved to everyone you dont need big dollar mods or a big dollar truck to win.
with every mod there is something else to go wrong,
my point is look at what won and look at where the truck came that people are comlaining about. if you dont wanna compete against stuff like that there is extreme class. otherwise let the cars get bigger and better.

I've read through the replies on this page especially in regards to the Hydro Steering and I have not found anyone "complaining" about them having an unfair advantage, blah, blah, blah. Why the hostilites?

In regards to spoons of concrete being available at round 3 for free.... you can add to that Chill Pills :D
