Motor and gear box ideas Sierra
Motor and gear box ideas Sierra
I am sick of towing my Zook home and then repairing my bloody motor, and to top it off the gear box is on its last legs too. She its 100% toy and just used in the weekends for rock work.
I have decided to pull my finger out and do an engine and gearbox conversion. I was quite keen on the 4AGZE idea until I found that the front cut would cost $2500 + + + +
What combinations are you running, why did you choose them, how hard was the conversion and how much did it cost (time and $$$)?

Cut down Sierra cab on extended LWB chasie running, Hilux front and Bundy back, with a 4AGZE should be finished about umm soon. A 60 Series work truck and some go fast toys too.
I spent alot of $$ (was supose to be cheap) putting in an a15 datto with auto but didnt like it so went back to stock and saved for the next conversion. This time I did whats been done a million times before and I knew would work so I went for 1600 carby vit
.
It was a very easy conversion and best bang for buck.

I'd rather my suzuki not fly, I find it has better traction when the tyres are on the ground, so I am putting a 660cc F6A in mine.
Personally, I would just put the easiest, newest EFI motor you can in the car - G13BB or G16B. This would give the best overall reliability.
IMHO a GZE, while cool, is really only suitable for big, heavy strong suzukis that can generate enough traction to use the torque. It is not, aparrently, a very complx conversion, but the flow in effects (having to strengthen everything else) are complicated.
I guess is depends on the driving you are doing and what you expect of the car, but I don't think the whole car would end up more reliable with a 117kw/240Nm going though it.

Well o.k it doesnt fly it drive fast
Well it was reliable enough for tuff trucks with only breaking the rear diff on the last day on the last stage up the waterfall
I to my knowledge he has only broken 2 cv and a tailshaft but its till a reliable car and also you really on break thing if you drive it hard

i dont think streght is a problem, forgot to mention i am running strengthened hilux in the front and bundy in the back
Bogan do oyu know how much it ended up costing for the conversion and what gearbox did he use?
If i was to use the G16B - 1.6L EFI motor DOHC 16Valve could i run its gearbox and have twin transfers?

4age and sierra box in mine. Obviously not as much power as the gze but still plenty.
Only downside is that it makes its torque quite high in the rev range but it hasnt been a problem for me, I drive mainly rock.
