Changing engine mounts need help.

Post by vicelore »

Hey guys well as stated im changing my engine mounts. im a little unsure of what needs to come off.

iv got a dodgy ass jack under the engine lifting from the tranny.
as per in pic

iv undone bolts 1 and 2

and undone bolt 2 on the other side to allow the engine to rise. i cannot seem to find the back bracket so i havent touched this. ( should i ? )

my question sohuld i be able to just jack it up and slide it out or do i need to undo bolts 3 and 4.

Cheers thanks for the help

I normally place a large piece of hardwood under the sump and jack from there. Undo nuts 1, 2 and bolts 3, 4. Fit new mount to bracket then slip into bracket on engine. Nip up nuts 1 & 2 then lower engine until bolts 3 & 4 line up. Tighten everything and remove the jack. :D Probably not recommended Suzuki method but thats how I do it.

Should be plenty of flex in the rear mount. If you undo it there is a risk the box could fall off the mount which woudl cause everhthing to twist.... a big PITA.

You only have to take weight on jack, no need to lift engine more than an inch or so on the side you want to replace.
