Cheap Slotted brake rotors?

As part of the evolution path for the GQ I am looking at replacing the disk rotors on the Patrol with slotted rotors. I assume these give a little better breaking offroad eapecially when wet or covered in mud.......

I have been quoted $139 a pair for RDA brand slotted rotors.

Is this a good price and if not where do you buy them from cheaper???

A little birdy told me there's a discount voucher in 4WD Monthly Issue 108 (out in newsagents now) that includes a voucher for DBA slotted rotors for $99 from Supercheap Auto...

Okay so that totals $108 if you include the price of the mag but hey the issue has Tuff Truck coverage in it and a 20 buck saving's a 20 buck saving!

Yoy sure its $139 a PAIR thats very cheap. I got some DBA sloted trade for $95 each I would be surprise if you can buy them cheaper

There's a few different variants of the slotted rotors available. Some, I think, are supposed to be better at cooling.
Which ones have you guys used?

I got a GQ with 4 wheel discs how much better are the slotted discs for $99 a pair over the stocko discs i use at the moment?

that price will have to be each, way too cheap for a pair of sloted . i payed that much each for mine

I have a set on the front of mine ....found out the hard way that ANY pads with 4WD written on em are no bloody good ....way too hard and squeal like a cornered pig.
I used the ferodo target ones...and once they are warmed up a bit ....work really well ....and are out on their own when towing camper...so softer pads are the go
And I paid just on $100 each for em ...plus pads

let me see if ive got this right........ you want CHEAP rotors? what about stopping ability, performance, durability etc..... you want to go cheap on a VERY important item? i hope you dont value anything or anyone that you take in your vehicle! if you want cheap, ive got some mates that could machine a set up for you out of cheap off cuts? they might not stop your vehicle but they will be slotted and cheap!

i paid around 200 for the pair for mine,
im verry happy with the stoping power it has now

and thats in a heavier GU not a GQ

I found a brake shop selling them for $139 a pair for RDA brand as listed.....

They meet Australian standards and look the same as DBA or whatever the other brand is......

will give them a go in my TD42 auto rocket ship.......

THe RDA brand doesn't look like they're quite the same quallity as the DBA brand. But may well be better than what you have as standard.

I've been using dba slotted rotors for about a year and replaced the pads with bendix 4x4 pads at the same time. I've noticed a small amount of difference to stopping power whether it was from the pads or rotors who knows. I figured they needed to be replaced so may aswell improve on standard. They aren't that expensive anyway.

I'm running DBA slotted rotors all round, seem to work well under all conditions.
Chews out brake pads real quick but thats ok, better than not stopping

theres nothing wrong with the rda ones, ive run the in mine for over 2 yrs and no problems. rda make a slotted rotter that looks the same as the dba one. they are around the same price, i think the rda's where about $10 cheaper for the pair

I have sold both RDA and DBA slotted and standard discs in the past and not once had a problem with either. RDA is made in china and DBA is (was) made in Australia. It has been my experience that the pads cause more problems than the discs. Some people like bendix 4WD and then others find they squeak. QFM seem to make a good pad and made locally.
RDA also make pads but i do not recomend them for 4WD........

i sell rda at work.they seem to be great quality very smooth to. there around the same price as dba. there break pads are good to. we are the only stockist in moe/warragal and surounding area's if any questions ask and i can find out stuff for u

I put some DBA rotors in mine a while back. Paid $84.00 each from Repco.
Surprising the prices you get from them when you ask for a club discount!

I've got the DBA slotted rotors on my GQ and this is my second set of them. I used to use Bendix 4x4 pads but they are bad news on the rotors and scored them to hell. Every time I had them machined and put Bendix back on I had the same problems. I've since gone back to standard Nissan pads and compared to Bendix, they have better feel, get up to temp sooner, are better under braking and don't wear out the rotors like the Bendix ones.

Genuine Nissan Pads and the RDA Rotors on my gq work well.

The Simexs on Steel Beadlocks don't help but it is much better than the glazed underisize std discs.
