welp, I think i took a pocket knife to a gunfight, and i also think i cut myself ...

We had the smallest, most stock vehicle there, ... we bashed and crashed our way through some of the gates, not trying to compete against anyone, but just trying to complete the courses. We have a lot to learn and quite a few mods to do, but it was a privliage to be able to actually compete on the same tracks as some of the top guys like Greg & Dave, & Yuri, which i'd have to say, considering these fellas are at the top end of the comps, they don't act big headed, and still have heaps of time to give advice and help out the newbies like us. Greg & Dave let us use their two way helmets for track 3 , and that was awesome.

The only track we finished was track 1 on day 1, which was awesome, we had a blast, and managed to get half way through the other three tracks for the event, but pointed out for cones on each one.

I think Dave Metcalf set up Track 2 on day 2 purely to get us out of the comp, we didn't stand much chance with the high clearance needed with our 31s, but lucky my spotter is pretty strong, as he just about picked the car up and got it over the rocks so we could continue.

Thanks heaps to Dave Metcalf for the awesome weekend, ... and also for cleaning the snatch strap we lent you because you didn;t have one??????

also, one suggestion Dave, tyre size limit for the next round = 31s = ... (that'll sort em out )

Got home at somethn like 11.30 sunday night.
Was a good weekend and we managed to get a few more bugs out of the buggy and crokie got some much needed seat time.
In the pic that mad cruser put up we had acctually lost the diff plug
We were pretty happy with how the buggy went considering we had no front dig ability and well i suck at spotting But we had fun. Untill sunday arvo when crokie had an accident in his borrowed prado (pieces of shit ) It seems they have a problem with poping the balljoints on the front end and loosing wheels. So we were faced with how to get 14 people home in 2 vehicles with a buggy a broken prado a camper and a heap of gear, So with much needed help from people who were also eager to get home but put themselves out to assist we got the prado to the gate where it was put on a tilt tray and now sits at tentafield we were still faced with getting everyone home .
anyway we all got home eventually considering there were other vehicles who were going past where we were going but didnt seem to give a shit with offering a lift or help.

Also a big thanks to Roger and Harley for there endless help and assistance with giving lifts home and towing shit for us. Both these guys didnt even think about going till we were all sorted and shore of getting home Many thanks guys
To everyone else who did come down to try help us out and make shore we were right to get home Thanks heaps Its guys like that that make the comps worth going to.
Also thanks to Heidi and Hans for the use of the phone and offers of assistance and storage Great people right there

Yep just wanted to back up Flynn with a big thanks to all the competitors and MMM for a great weekend. And special thanks to Damien, Greg and Dave, there aren't too many sports around these days where the top guys come and chat to the newbies on the bloke, let alone lend us time, equipment and so much advice. Much appreciated fellas, was a real insight as to how much is actually involved in competing and really makes you appreciate what you see as a spectator. Look forward to catching up again...hopefully in October for round 2.

What a great fun weekend!! it has been sooooo long since i have had a decent social/comp w'end.
firstly a HUGE thanks to SAM for lending us that AWESOME buggy!!!!
it is sooooooooo capable and very predictable to spot for, it is a pleasure. sorta like the LUX in the way you can tell exactly what you need to do for every obstacle.

A BIG thanks to MMM dave for running another excellent event, you are the master!

And thanks soooooooo much to all the competitiors who came and gave it a go, i know the veterans enjoyed having a new group of guys showing up and giving their all, WELL DONE. I hope the comoradery continues between ALL competitors as we share both knowledge and experience to encourage even more to join our sport!!!

It was amazing to see such a spectrum of vehicle turn up, from the tiny ZUK , and the battered lux to the pristine camo? lux , these guys will be the ones to watch in future events!

as for the buggies! thanks to all, POS / 2P and the amazing new moon buggy!! YURI and his fleet of cutting edge machinery!! and Roger in his TOPSHELF rig (which is going to kick some butt!). You guys put on an awesome show of controlled driving in pretty average conditions.

last of all well done to BB for another show of perfectly contrlled driving, you amaze me of how well you decifer my directions constantly!!

Sounds like you all had a great time and plenty of fun to be had BUT

The Gold Coast Land Rover guys had a run there the same weekend and at least 6 vehicles of ours (that we currently know of) were tampered with.

• Range Rover steering arm connection nut and split pin loosened.
  Discovery all l/h wheel nuts loose.
  Defender l/h front wheel nuts loose and tamper marks.
  2nd Discovery r/h wheels nuts loose except lock nut.
  3rd Discovery all rear r/h wheel nuts loose.
  2nd Range Rover steering problems, still investigating.

As I was not there I am merely reporting some facts, however I think you will agree this matter is very serious indeed and very nearly could have been a tragic end to a weekend for more than one family through – we suspect - some group or individuals stupidity. I am still waiting to speak to a few others in the club but it seems very unlikely and too coincidental I think you will agree to have so many cars with wheel nuts and steering components come loose of their own accord.

I don't know if it was anyone from this forum but please if anyone knows something, please PM me for anonymity... i will not name names or sources but i'm sure you all agree this is a very serious and potentially fatal issue which can affect us all if those involved get away without punishment and do it again.
