SWB / LWB Vitara Driver Seat The Same ?
SWB / LWB Vitara Driver Seat The Same ?
Hey Guys.
I am going to buy a drivers seat that is wrecked, so i can use the frame/rails to mount my skyline seat too. I want to keep my original seat incase I have issues with RTA.
Will the SWB drivers seat mounts fit the LWB?
If possible I need this confirmed by 4pm today.
Cheers
Chris

woo hoo! thanks guys.
I found a wreckers with one and said I'd go back this arvo and get it. Just wanted to make sure.
Hopefully it will be easy to fit my skyline seat. i have had to stop driving my Vitara as it hurts my back soooo bad. I drove it all week + 2 weekends and my back is still playing up.
I'll make sure to show some pics of how I get it to fit (can't be too hard with the rails/mount already.
Thanks CJ

Yeah, they would be nice. I have an R32 Skyline seat spare, as I replaced it with a Bride Brix II (which is incredible) as I do drifting. The standard R32 seats aren't too bad, so I will give it a go first (free) and see how I go.
I actually think if it is too much of a bucket seat, it wouldn't be practical as you couldn't move around to see things while in the bush?? Otherwise I will keep my eye out for another Brix II. But they are $800+ second hand.

It too should require all new rails.
I am not sure of the situation with Recaro where you are, but the Melbourne distributor (idealseat in Moorabbin) is very, very good.
Recaro product for australia comes out of Japan. they have a local manfacturer for base frames but if the fitment is supported ex japan they will use the Japanese part, which are beautifully fabricated and of better than OEM quality.
I looked into Bride, but I was concerned that their seats have a 100kg weight limit and no claim to ADR compliance. (they are cool though)
When playing with seats and rails be very careful, not only with safety (which goes without saying) but also with the seat position in the car. I have been making small adjustments to the SP-G Recaro I have in my commuter over the last few days to get the seat position dialled in, but This is a side plate mounted seat so I have that option. bolting a seat down to a set of rails and fabricated mounts takes a fair amount of guesswork and you are unlikely to get it right first time.
Just some thoughts. If you go Recaro, you will never be able to have anything less in a car again.
Just some thoughts.
Steve.

I was there when the Recaro (Idealseat) guys were doing the install on mine. I had thought it would be such a simple thing to do but after watching the time and effort they put in to set it up right I decided it was worth the money to have them do the job.

Only if German is written in Japanese! my Mini base and WRX Base were ex Japan. (and I reckon my SP-G was too, as at the time SP-G's were only listed on the recaro japan site, not the European site.
The printed brochure idealseat issued for the Australian market last year was ex Japan and didn't match the european market at all.
Some seats might be ex Germany- I agree that your seats are definitely German.
Interestingly, Recaro have recently changed their website but up to about 12 months ago, Recaro japan and Recaro europe had different sites and a totally different product range.
Personally, I don't care if it is ex Germany or Japan, it's still the world's best product

yeah i got some recaros in my vit, got them second hand a few years ago from a import wreckers, they've got made in west germany printed underneath them, so i'm presuming they were made when the belin wall was still up
bloddy comfy tho, you right steve once youve got them, you cant go back to anything less
I unbolted the sliders from my stock seats and used them, and fabbed up a frame myself to mount the seats, it took a bit of measuring and guessing, but worked out pretty good 1st time

So either way I have to make one. Bummer. Normally I would have a go, but when it's for seat rails.... I gutted the seat and just kept the frame from the spare vit seat i got. Then I thought the Skyline seat rails came off to make it flat....I only checked one side...that 1 side comes off fine, but the other doesnt. I could just made a mount to get them level, then weld onto the vit frame, but it would lift the seat 4". so that won't happen. I guess I'll just have to make something up.
you guys have some photos of these frames? exc450@gmail.com
