supercharged 1.3 vs 1.6efi?

Post by wellsey »

So my two options for more power are to use the suzisport 1.3 supercharger and tip injection kit @ 2000 bucks, or to convert to vit 1.6 efi at around 3000 bucks (?) if I do it myself.

My 1.3 has just been rebuilt and goes great, but is it worth supercharging it? I'd like to hear from some people with the suzisport kit, what sort of gains are to be had and what are the drawbacks if any?

Thanks in advance for any advice!

Cheers, Wellsey.

IIRC, nicbeer paid somewhere between 1.5-2k for a vitara front cut... don't quote me on that though.

Try a search actually I believe there was a topic with people interested in getting them imported.

1600 not inc freight actually. 500 freight to perth. $1 per cc :)

i do not beleive someone would have paid for the supercharger, but never know. tbi kits u can get for $100-500 bux usually.

mpfi conversion could be done for about 2-2.5k depends on how much u get motor for and components.

$200 is conversion kit for 1.6

Are you talking about just wacking the super charger on a standard motor ?

I'm not famillar with the suzi sport kit but If you dont build the motor to suit the boost you wnat to run you can end up destroying the motor.

i'd say go the 1.6L vitara. I had a carby one in my old zook with the vitara 5 spd and standard geraing and it would still pull 130kmph on the freeway on 32's.

Went like the clappers.

Ive got plenty of experience with forced induction, coming from an import background, I was just wanting to hear from anyone who has fitted the supercharger kit to the 1.3 and what sort of results they got.

I think in the long run the ultimate will be the 1.6 with supercharger kit, but I just want to make use of my freshly rebuilt 1.3, if its worthwhile.

Wellsy, as a new zook owner I am in this same space at the moment. I have a stock 1.3 and have been having to drive it about 750k's a week. Power is pitiful and fuel consumption is 9.3km/L (not great by any standards). Let me know how you go. I am looking at putting a toyo charger on my zook with the help of an import builder friend who can make all of the air hoses etc to get it charging. Down the track EFI will be the goal (injected g16 with 18 heads I am told is common among Swift GTI mods).

I was kinda close on price. :D

9.3km/L doesn't sound too bad... mine doesn't get close to that.

9.3Km/L is good? I have nothing done to my sierra, no bigger tyres, bog stock and it gets a lazy (read slow and sluggish) 330km from a full tank. Surely they're no that thirsty?

Well onto the real topic, Supercharge a 1.3 or go Vit EFI 1.6 (or 1.8 swift motor)?
