Ok, since Im relatively new to the 4wding (Compared to others), I havent got that much of an idea on extreme tyres.


I dont want to splurge out $2000+ on a set of tyres that wont do what I want them to do, so I come to the Outerlimits Nerds :P in search of some info.


What I want to do is have a tyre that will have good sideways grip (I likes my side angles), be good in clay, dirt, rock, sandstone, no snow (it dont snow up here in north brissy).





Also, another thing. When you SPOA, and put a panhard bar on it (People say it helps heaps), when the suspension flexes, wont the panhard snapp off the mounts or break something as it pulls the diff sideways, but the leaves are not meant to move sideways.

From what I can think of, it would either rip the P/B mounts off, or the spring hangers. Or bend sometthing. Because dont the springs control the sideways movement. Just like trying to push an A-Frame sideways.

Or have I got that all wrong?

What size tyre on what type of car?

Q78 Super swamper.

If you are right into side angles, you might want to run the 16" rim version, it is a little bit more stable at low pressure.

There is no need for a panhard rod with a spoa on a sierra, especially if it is a buggy- Panhard rods are mostly used to improve road handling in leaf spring cars.

Having said that, if it is abuggy thing there is no need to go SPOA to run a 36" tyre.

Thankyou for that Mr GwagenSteve. I was going to go SPOA to get a little more chassis clearance as it wont be a full buggy, but more like a full body toy. It will still have a chassis, but Im now thinking going Truggy back.

I had a look at the Iroks. Look like the other SS tyres, just with a little different tread. Lol. I was looking at the TSL's as everybody seems to be using them, and they come in 15.5" wide :cool:
