My front panhard rod copped a whack at Lake Eppalock... this was previously modified to make it adjustable (for the 3" lift), but is still only as strong as a stock front panhard.
(This is a GQ btw).
I've just welded the damage, which was on the adjustable part, but overall the part is not as strong as I'd like it to be. Just wondering (a) is this under much tension when the car is just standing flat, ie can it be removed and put back on with the car standing on its wheels, and (b) what's a good price/source for a stronger adjustable one?
The damage was not a big deal but I think it's a part that can use an upgrade.
I guess I'll need to address the back as well... hrmmm.

just a tip,
If you leave your drag link connected it will make it real easy to line up the panhard rod.
You can move the steering wheel one way or the other and the car will move accordingly
.
Also it is much easier to put the top bolt in first and then push the bottom bush over the pin on the diff.

piss easy to fit on your own, put chassis end in first leave bolt loose, lay on ground, feet toward steer box push the chassis to get the car to rock sideways with the panhard in one hand when the bush lines up with the stud on diff with the body rocking just push the panhard on. Done this heaps of times from std hight to 7" lift, front and rear the same

If you do a measured length then its heaps cheaper than adjustable.

I am sure it was that field of rocks! I think I did some of it a bit too fast, but it was probably just a bit of bad luck to hit the panhard. These panhards were modified by a mechanic I used a couple of years ago. It's a pity that it broke actually.kirragc wrote:When did that happen, you hit a gutter on the way home or what?
The design was a piece of threaded rod in one side of the panhard (after cutting a section out), and a nut welded on the end of the other side. Then just screw together to adjust. Looking at it yesterday, I think that if it had had a lcoking nut as well it would have been much stronger, as it was the thread got bashed around inside the nut too much.
Oh well, it lasted over two years.
