Pulled the rocker cover off today and the rockers to re-tention the head. Anyway, long story short, when you tighten the ROCKER COVER bolts, any tighter than finger tight, it kills the engine WTH is going on? Without the rocker cover on, it runs fine. Put it on finger tight, runs fine. Try and tighten one of the bolts, and it looses compression on the cylinder under that bolt. Tighten all of them and you could stop the engine. Is this normal?(i'm guessing not) so what the hell can be causing it
can you hear the rockers hitting the cover.
What sort of gasket is it a thick cork style or a thin paper one?
try take the cap off see if it a vacum/breather thing.
well this problem has sorta been ignored by me on account of more irritating problems(electrical).
But, There's no wires or anything else under there that can be caught, the gasket looks to be rubber its pretty thick, and AFAIK the original one, could a cracked or warped head have this effect? or contribute to it somehow?
Shown 2 mechanics and they are both baffled. One rang up a diesel specialist, been doing diesel's all his life and he doesn't believe him , wants to come and see it for himself. At this rate, I just need some publicity, then charge and admission fee to see it and I'll be set
