Which Shocks.

OK I have a GQ Wagon, It has 4 inch spring under it.
I know lots of people have these and bigger so what shocks should I have and an approximate price. I am after the cheapest anybody knows of that will give me a lot more travel. Not Ironman.

Any suggestions. And where would I get some.

I did have rancho's on my GU wagon but were wat too light so now use light truck Koni with the top bolt turned down in lathe. Should check with cheesy and see how the tough dog's are going on his GQ wagon they looked pretty big.

OME are a good reliable and cheap shocker bro - I run them and my car sees more work than most - work awesomely 3" lifted 80(yes I know - small..)

Just thought I might do something about the rear suspension that I havn't really touched other than put some 2inch OMEs in and the 4inch springs. So Im also after an adjustable panard rod, sick of the tailshaft hitting the bellytank.

Just thought Id ask if anybody had any groundbreaking news.

i run rancho's on my 80 and it has a 6inch lift, used to have ironman & a 3inch lift and they were shit!! im very happy with the ranchos, they seem to be holding up well considering my ride weighs in at almost 3.2t with all the accessories on and produce great travel.

I run ranchos on my 9inch lifted patrol which is a 5link front and 1/4 eliptic rear and as long as you position your shocks so that they dont run out of travel before the coils and also hit the bumpstop when fully compressed you shouldn't wreck your shocks. had no probs so far'

Arent those monroe's the same as wat SAM uses in the mogrover???...................they would be fine for the back of the pootrol cheeaaap 2

I have Dobinson shocks and springs on my Patrol and they are great so far.

On the Zuk I have old Man Emu racing buggy shocks in the front and rancho 9012s in the rear again a good combo for a zuk but probably a little soft for a Patrol.

When I was getting the 3" lift done on the Patrol was advised against the ranchos as they aren't appropriately valved for them.

9012's are quite good for the rear of a patrol, 5012's would be fine as set on 3 the 9's are pretty close. Old Man Emu front XJ Jeep Cherokee shock for the front, around 12.8" travel and valved spot-on. Needs custom mounts though.
I don't think there is a Rancho that is even close to being valved right for the front?

I had OME shocks but for my 5" lift they were way too short, the Koni's are even longer than rancho's so I get full extention even in the front. The rancho's tend to suffer from the heat a bit and you get the odd one that melts the seals and presto nackerd.
