Brake Prop valve and sierra brake systems

Post by nicbeer »

Hey,

Trying to work out where to put my brake bias valve in the sierra, has got rear discs and rears are locking up before fronts.

This is on a swb WT so has the single rear line to rear axle.

I followed the lines from master cylinder down and the there are two lines going from the distribution block near drivers side front chassis down to the rear proportional valve on chassis rail.

do i place the bias valve on the master cyl end on rear output and not worry about the second line going to the back as this may be a return line?

anybody got pics of if they have one installed.

Nic

Nik , I have one mounted on my rear brake line and it is mounted on the chassis rail on the inside below drivers seat. I have only one front line as well and the other two lines are blocked at the 6 way joint , the manual shows a proportioning valve at the rear , but my car never had one so there is no return , hope that helps , Cheers Paul.

MART - got any pics of this?

i have the proportion valve at the back still, should i block of the 2nd line from this to the front or leave it there and put the valve at master cyl end.

so your system is setup as from the master cyl u have one line to front disc then one from one side to other? or going through dist block to split to two lines.

Nik , one rear line and one front line out of the bottom of the six way joint.

Image

The top two are blocked on the six way joint.

Image

The brake bias mounted to chassis. In NSW the brake bias has to be covered and only accessible to be adjusted with tools , so you don't get idiots screwing with your brakes.

Image

The front single line , goes to a tee and then off to the callipers , the rear is the same. I am thinking of changing to braided lines just to get a harder pedal , I have 9 flexible joints so I might gain a little out of braided lines , hope this helps , Cheers Paul.

I'll see what bazooked comes back with as well and mod it from there. i have still got the rear distro block so may look at removing this.
