i am going to put in a 2" lift kit this weekend (finally got my butt into gear), and a comment was made about extending the steering wheel column... by adding another steering column spacer, and longer bolts?
Will the 'biscuit' in this kit be enough? Is it the right part?
With a 2" lift there should be no need to space the steering. I have done about a dozen 2" BL's on sierras and have never needed one.
The steering box input shaft has a long flat on it to allow for some tolerance. The bolt will go back in in the new position.
I have seen some done with the rag joint doubled up, but I don't really see the need.
Spacing is required with a 3" BL (which I don't really recommend anyway)

I put 2nd rag joint washer (biscuit) in when I first did a 2" BL (just because I was told that was what you had to do) it worked fine. I have no problem with this.
However at a later date when doing other work on the Zook I found that I could move the shaft a little at eacvh end and fit it with just the one washer.
I had the solid steering shaft, not the extendable one referred to by Vicelore.
If I were to be doing another one now, I would not worry about the 2nd washer, just move the shaft on the spindle.
The instructions in my kit are taken for Vicelore's thread. I didn't advise moving the coupling on the shaft as I was not aware of this mod. On mine I added a double thinkness rag joint/biscuit and found this an easy mod, the same as adding a second rag joint.
As you can tell there are numerous methods, I drove mine around for quite a while with no steering mod but felt I may be doing some damage to the joint itself. I apologise if my instructions were unclear and if you feel they need to be revised please let me know.
I hope the rest of the install goes smoothly. Any feedback would be great.
Greg

No problems Greg - your information was very clear.
I highly reccomend this kit for other users - the price and quality are better than i could find anywhere else (and it is without taking the risk of bodging something up myself!)
the double rag joint/biscuit seems the very easy option - and i will probably go down this line.
But Like i said - i will get another rag joint, just in case, and while i am under the truck, i will look at the shaft, and try to put the BL in over the weekend. I am sure i wont have any problems.
*note: My original thread was about if the biscuit part i was looking at was the right item for the job, not about extending the spline/shaft/coupling*
i have used the 2" kit from greg (just cruisin) went it smoothly and so on. I didnt need to play around with the steering shaft at all.just a feew things like brake line brackets etc.Have i read on here before about torana rag joints fitting up and being alot thicker??
