You'd need to swap the dizzy aswell. But it wouldn't be too hard if you knew what you were doing.
You don't know what you're doing though turtle boy :P lol.
Can't i run with the electronic ignition and carby?

I think this is a great idea,

but I will never get into it.

To get into it I would have to sell my 80 as I cant afford to run two 4by's.
And seeing as I would never downgrade to owning a datsun (In any form) and this class being too restrictive to allow similar setup 4wd's, but of other builds. This GQ's only thing will restrict the numbers of competitors and the number of spectators who want to watch.
Lets face it, as a owner of a cruiser, (And you can insert any other type of 4by in there) why would I want to watch a near stock datsun compete?

As I said, the idea is great, just open the brands up.

Could feed on the Datsun/Cruiser thing to really gear it up

It runs on recycled Dinosaurs.

I believe that we should all let Darren and Pete come up with all the specs and rules for this class of racing.and then once it is done those that want to race will. All this talk back and forth about what should be allowed and what should not can and will go on forever if it is allowed only to the detriment of those out there that genuinely want to race. All the discussion is good but time has come for the rules and specs to be finalized and the racing to begin.Just one final note if we were to all go racing in an event that was conducted under cams spec and rules i dont believe any of us would be going there and asking to change the rules and specs to suit our individual needs,it just would not happen, once again lets get racing !

Why is that a smart comment? It'd do very badly as there isn't enough to even concider it. This is why I think its silly to make a 1 make and model class

But owell lets just keep it all the same and boring as shit, and nobody even meantion HQ racing as I find that pitifull

Its been said before if you dont like it, build a trophy class car and go and race that.
This has got the support from a lot of the top competitors and the list of companies ready to offer sponsorship has blown me away. I have had them contacting me.
I have made a lot of phone calls over the last month or so and put many hours into this.It is ready to move forward as GQ's only.

kewl.. Any updates on few points, know they were discussed at the start of the thread.

How many rounds are you *thinking* of running it over?

Will it be
- run inconjunction with other events as seperate class races
- run inconjunction with other events in with other class'
- totally seperate events on their own weekends?

Is there a limit to how many you will run (suppose that depends on the previous answer)

you should register www.gqracing.com website.

At this stage we are planning on it running in conjunction with other events. and any new events to come out of this we would hope would include the classes currently offered by CCDA.
The limit will depend on the event. I would hope we could get 20 - 25 gq class trucks at a weekend event
Im not mch of a gigabyte as far as websites ect , I wll see how i go with the web as i will need to get someone to arrange that.

let me know dude. I'm a wholesaler for netregistry so its easy for me..

we should probably just register www.gqracing.org.au or www.gqracing.com.au

maybe something similar which i did for vicwinch with its own dedicated forum.

Then with the site itseld potentional sponsors arb, nissan, for example can advertise on the site with animated banners or have there own particular sections...

i would say that would be depends if its a CCDA sactioned event.

I'm not sure if there are too many CCDA events in QLD as metcalf runs his own style of events.

How did you know simex is the control tire? Maybe a list needs to go up of what type of equipment to get and what sponsers to get it from so everybody interested can get the same deals.

why allow money for work done yourself?
if you cant install a basic lift kit, some bar work and a winch its probably time to give up now as trackside repairs will be way out of your realm

Yes I know its been asked before but why not open it up to T/D but then limit them to a smaller lift / smaller tyre etc.

Maybe 4.2T/D but 33's and 2" max ?

Or even no rear locker and smaller lift.

Something that will limit them becasue they have more power.

Just an idea.

if you keep the rules basic and simple and same for all, there is no confusion on anyones part - from competitor to scruitineers to spectators.

get the class running first, then fine tune it IF it needs it. You may find enough competitors out there within the current proposed rules to fill fields.
