thats what i got. sold all the bits i didnt need/cant use. goes good so far.
afaik - no difference in specs. some diff parts maybe as far as efi bits and the air cleaner is a diff one as there is two kinds for the vit 1.6 i have found but can get easy as the other one.

Someone (cj?) will correct me on this but the g16A motors (or I think they might be g16BA) went into the early estate wagons.
cj's australian market auto estate wagon and ljxtreem's critta both had exactly the same motor.
ljxtreems motor was a japanese market motor. Sourcing some parts is hard as even though they did come into australia, there weren't many so they don't come up on a lot of parts system computers.
We still never got hold of a 100%correct wiring diagram for this motor. Ran great though.
Steve.
PS keep the auto and work with it - you won't regret it.

Everybody refers to the 1.6 16v as a G16B and the 1.6 8v as a G16A but you can find G16A on 16v blocks. The 16v engines have a better balanced crank too. As Steve said try and keep the auto as it is well worth it IMHO.

According to Japan market has both 8v and 16v heads for the g16a (even knowing the 16v is often refered to as just the g16b)
Suzuki's japan website list all 8vs with 3 speeds and all 16v with 4 speeds
If you get it make sure you get the transmission ecu too!
(although there was a thread about mixing vit autos with volvo/toyota transmissions to eliminate the ecu!)

from what i have read and found out from the dealer. the type 1 estates/wagon were the first to get the 16v.
I know mine going by the VIN was a wagon inc the 16v and 4spd.

how bad was it finding parts? ive been reading ljxtreem found it hard to get a timing belt? this ones not that far off needing oneGwagensteve wrote:ljxtreems motor was a japanese market motor. PRetty much do a side by side comparison. There are two parts, one is wrong and one is right, just check width and #of teeth before you hand over the $$$.

As Steve mentioned I had the same engine as ljxtreem in my 93 lwb. I had no issue with replacing my timing belt although i did have it with me to make sure the new one was the same. I think I picked it up from Repco.
