This is the red hardtop right?

IMHO the answer is no, not really. There are a fair few differences behind the dash of a 1.3 and a 1.0 - heater box, dash support bar, pedal box configuration, HVAC duct configuration. Some of these are associated with the change to boosted brakes.

Also, the loom is quite different.

It's possible, but a big job. It's likely that once you got it done, heaps of stuff would be floppy and not work.

Personally I think the best wsay of doing it woudl be to lift the whole firewall and trans tunnel from a 1.3, but it might not be worth doing that much work to your rough tub.

it can be done, swapped my 84 steeldash with a plastic 86 in my tintop. You need to weld on some supports right under the windshield. If I remember right the bar that goes from side to side is the same on 84 and 86. But the steeringcolumn is different, so is the pedalassembly. Oh and the heaterassembly is different. I used the 86 assembly, but had to use the 84 blower. And the blower need to be placed on the opposite side.

I also have the brakebooster and assembly from the 86. Only thing that doesnt work 100% is the fresh or recycle switch. fresh is where the recycle icon is and vice versa, but thats it

does it make sence?

no, sorry no pics. Only one of it complete installed. but it looks like it would stock so no use in that

Dont remember excactly what the difference in the pedal assembly was, but I do remember I had to shorten the arm that the clutchwire attatch to, since it would hit the airintake for the heater. Think that arm was on the oppsite side on the 84. But then again this might not trouble you, since you have the steeringwheel on the wrong side

The steeringcolumn goes trough the firewall a little different. I took off the stock 84 plate that was on the firewall, and welded a 86 413 plate on it. Then adjusted the holes. It is a couple of centimeters

because of the change to boosted brakes, the relationship between the steering column and brake pedal had to change, along with the hole size and bolt pattern for the booster. The meanst that the under dash bar is differentand the column must be different as the steering shaft exits the firewall lower to go under the booster.

The end result is that there are lots of differences under dash, add in that the 1.0 dash is welded in, the HVAC system is quite different (more dash vents in the 1.3) the looms are different... it never ends.

Basically, IMHO it would be easier to swap the firewall between a NT or WT and the 1.0litre than try to swap dashes.... then you have to wonder if its better to swap the whole tub to get the wider tunnel etcetc.

Personally, I quite like to oldskool look of the 1.0 dash, especially the base model dash without the grab handle and the dash padding, haveing said that a NT dash is quite pretty without a radio in it - it has a nice clean line. They look crap with the radio bezel slung under the dash IMHO.

there is also a small pannel, that comes out from the bottom of the pillars on a 1.3L. you'll need this to fit the dash easly.

IMO it would be easyer to stay with the 1.0L dash as i have done, even though i have now got a 1.3L fire-wall.

but if you are HELL-BENT on changing the dash, get a donor car and sit them beside each other, so that you can see the difference. and then you'll have everything that you'll need for the conversion.
