whats the difference betwen greasable and non greasable??

like how do they make them up etc???

The centre of the shackle pin is hollow and this has holes drilled in the shaft , with a grease nipple at the end. This allows grease to be pumped into the centre of the bushes and force its way out. This lubricates the bushes , stops wear and when greasing you should keep pumping until clean grease comes out , this forces any moisture out of the bush or pin to avoid rusting , Cheers Paul.

Greasable shackles are designed only to work with urethane bushes, as greasing rubber bushes destroys them.

Many people think that urethane bushes are too stiff for Suzukis. I have seen lots of pin wear and shackle damage caused by urethane bushes. Greasing them will help to prevent this, but the stiffness is still an issue as it can limit flex.

Well, yes, I use rubber grease but it doesn't really lasy very long - I use it more as an assembly aid. It is very light and washes off/out quickly (that's certianly true of the PBR stuff I have)

The rubber grease i use says its water based and non allogenic. :shock: oops wrong grease.

Wouldn't bother with greasable shackles personally, has them on the hilux, busted off the grease nipples in a short while. If your car is an off roader go the rubber bushes, if you drive it on road more often than not urethane bsushes will last a lot longer. Even run urethane in the springs and rubber in the shackle mounts.

I have found that the urethane bushes were easier to find aftermarket, and last longer than the rubber ones.
I didnt realise i had to grease them more often - guess i have another job for the weekend!


p.s. Does anyone on here make 2" extended shackles?
I would be interested! Dont hafta be greaseable!

Hahaha $130 is a bit steep - there is a guy seling Rocky Road ones for $280 for 2!!!

May hafta play around with the welder - i dont suppose there is much to them.
The welds on the original ones dont seem that HD.

i may even make them in two bits so that they are easier to get on (no prying)....
