Because people have tried and failed, it doesn't mean that it cant work. I was told when I was building my Disco2 that it couldn't be lifted over 2" with the suspension design, I was also told that the "only" way to do it was 2" springs and 2" body lift. I was also told that if I did a 4" spring it "would" fall over, where 2" + 2" is stable. These were all by people in the know. Well, 4" lift only, 35's etc and its all still sweet, and there are now manufacturers who have found the same and are marketing up to 5" spring lifts. Also body lifts on a D2 are still rare.
If its as wide as a GQ, as high as a 4" lifted GQ, and 4" GQ's are not having stability problems, and infact comping sucessfully with significantly higher ride heights then I'm not sure why it would be a problem (apart from the wheelbase) in a Disco. I think many of us are stuck in the 2+2 mould as the only option.
