wouldn't the transfer ring actually reduce the chance of breaking the case? It would spread the load around the whole case rather then just 2 points.

I have the Roctoy ring and some 75x50x6 angle cut and bent to suit. I still need to fab up a passenger side mount as I bent the one that bolts to the case, lucky I didn't stuff the case.

The Rocktoy ring where did you get this from or have you made this yourself, I was speaking with a mate and we were thingking of making a whole bolt in cradle sorta like on the jeeps to hold the transfer...?

Beef the compression (drivers) side, leave the tension side alone and use factory rubbers. Carry a couple of urethane spring or shock rubbers and some 10mm bolts for if you break a mount.

Breather - as per ususal, there is a hard way and an easy way -

On the very top of the case is a small cap like a diff breather. You can see it on the top of the case in my photo. This cap can be prised off and there is a very small barb on here than will just take a hose and hose clamp, but its not ideal.
This is the easy way.

The hard way is to pull the barb out - its just pressed in, and tap the case with a 1/4" BSP tap. Then you can thread an elbow in. However, to do this, you would either want to pull the case apart to work just on the bare case 1/2, or maybe tap it with the case upside down, and then flush it through with more oil- ther eis a risk the swarf from cutting the tread might trash a bearing or something.

You really need a breather - water ingress is the #1 cause of case failure.

I drained my breatherless case (no hose on the barb) after a recent highcountry trip and there was about 500ml of water in it.

Steve.
As another note:

ARB Air locker line fits snugly inside the factory hole when the tin cap is removed. A little urethane and its done.

so what revs we talking about, as at moment thinking i wouldnt mind gettin gears, and know i am running 235s on a wide track ( should be 3.7) in low with new gears would be good just worried how it will affect top end, eg 100km as tyres aint that worn and dont want it to rev ring off

I'm not sure on revs cause i don't have a tacho!

BUT it sounds like it's reving a bit higher but can actually pull away from the lights and sit on 110 now up hills and stuff! You hit 5th at about 70khs and it will still pull away!

Offroad i will never go back! I can now idel stuff i couldn't drive before and i cant stall it!

Unfortunatly the second wheel on the 31's and i put a tear in the side wall! :bad-words: Was on a rock ledge bit in a creek and the noise said it all!

If your thinkin about doin it do it!
