1.6 Exhaust manifold

Post by sierrajim »

I'm in the process of adding some additional horsepower to a 1.6 TBI motor by way of turbo charging.

I have a Turbo off a CA18.

I've looked at fabricating an exhaust manifold, don't really have the time. And i've looked at turbo manifolds off Ebay, these are a fraction of the price of having one custom made. I figure i can buy one, cut the exhaust plate off and attach my 1.6 exhaust plate that i have sitting here.

The problem is what will come close to lining up?

I've been told the SR20 would be too long, should have measurements tonight.

What others? Don't suppose anyone would have any measurements? CA18, 4AG??

Thanks in advance for any help you may be able to provide.

an idea is maybe go to supercrap or similar and look at the exhaust manifolds. guessing this is for a 8v motor, maybe even escort or ca18 could be.

ca18 is pretty much exactly the same dimensions as the sr20
what about a 13b turbo rotary they are powerful rev and are lightweight so it wont stuff up your cars balance

Exhaust manifolds

You could always splash out and buy a manifold gasket and then go to wreckers and start comparing...

Looks to be sorted now. SR20 is 320mm outside to outside on a cast manifold. My 1.6 extractors are 290mm. Take into account the thickness of the cast and we're close.
